KANE VISITS CAMERON CO. FOR KEY AML SOUTH GAME

Kane (4-0 overall, 4-0 AML South) at Cameron County (3-1, 3-1)

Week Five - 7:30 p.m. Friday Sept. 27

EMPORIUM – The AML South title and a trip to the AML championship game could very well be at stake Friday night when Kane takes its unblemished 4-0 record south by east to Emporium to take on the Cameron County Red Raiders (3-1).

Kane has used a powerful offense and a staunch defense while putting up four straight wins to start the season. The Wolves are allowing just eight points per game and are tied with Cameron County for the second fewest points per game let up in District 9. Both schools are tied for 11th in the state among Class A schools in points allowed per game. Kane’s offense has also been very good this season averaging 33.5 points per game, the second highest total in District 9 and the 11th highest total in the state among Class A schools.

While Cameron County’s defense has been just as strong as Kane’s if not stronger (the Red Raiders have allowed just 12 points in the last three weeks), the Red Raider offense has struggled scoring just 9.25 points per game. The highest output of the season by Cameron County is 15 points achieved in a 15-6 win over Curwensville last week. Cameron County has scored just four touchdowns all year while adding two field goals for a total of 31 of the team’s 37 points.

Kane, which is coming off a 28-7 win over Elk County Catholic Friday night, has used a multi-faceted attack this season. The Wolves have ran for an average of 194 yards per game while passing for an average of 131 yards per game.

Running back Mike Jamerson has carried the ball 62 times for 325 yards and seven touchdowns. He is averaging 5.2 yards per carry. He has also caught nine passes for 79 yards.

Quarterback Tyler Smith is completing 63.5 percent of his passes. He is 40-for-63 passing for 524 yards and four touchdowns while throwing just one interception. Smith has added 37 carries for 156 yards and three touchdowns.

Hugh Rich is the top receiver for the Wolves with 12 catches for 141 yards and a touchdown, while Tim Smith has added seven catches for 112 yards.

Cameron County’s offense is averaging 95.75 yards per game on the ground and 101 yards through the air.

Running back Adam Kesterholt has carried the ball 52 times for 262 yards, while quarterback Kyle Vogt is 23-for-60 passing for 404 yards and three touchdowns. He has thrown five interceptions.

Scott Aikens is the Red Raiders top receiver having caught nine passes for 262 yards and two touchdowns. Jon Songer has added six grabs for 60 yards and a score.

Last season Cameron County beat Kane 15-10, but two years ago the Wolves topped the Red Raiders 30-13.

Cameron County is at Brockway next week, while Kane hosts Curwensville.
