CORSICA St. Marys Tristan Mulcahy is the D9Sports.Com District 9 Football Player of the Week for the third week of the 2002 season. Mulcahy, the first kicker to be honored in the three years of the award, scored all 12 points on four field goals for St. Marys in the Flying Dutchmens 12-0 win at A-C Valley. It was the first win of the season for St. Marys (1-2). Three of his field goals came from beyond 40 yards including kicks of 42, 42 and 43 yards. His fourth field goal was no slouch either, a 35 yarder. In addition to Mulcahy, 14 additional players playing in District 9 leagues are being honored this week as honorable mention recipients. Their names appear below. D9Sports.Com is a web site in its third year of existence located at www.d9sports.com. The site covers athletics, primarily football in the fall, within the PIAAs District 9. The site is not affiliated with the PIAA in any way. For more information on the site, please visit it or e-mail the staff at d9sportscom@hotmail.com. The Player of the Week award and the Honor Roll are chosen by the three founding members of D9Sports.Com. The awards can be given to any players playing on one of the 29 teams who compete in a District 9 League. Those 29 teams include four teams who are non-District 9 teams (Sheffield, Eisenhower, Youngsville and West Shamokin) but play more than 75 percent of their games against District 9 opponents and compete for District 9 league titles. The awards are the only weekly awards given out in the District that represent the district as a whole. Honor roll members are listed alphabetically by school.
