CORSICA For the third consecutive week and for the fourth time in six weeks, Clearfields Dave Richards is the D9Sports.Com District 9 Football Player of the Week. Richards ran 34 times for 325 yards and five touchdowns and returned a punt for a touchdown in Clearfields 48-21 win over Philipsburg-Osceola Friday night. He is the first player in the three-year history of the award to be named Player of the Week in three straight weeks. He is also the first player in the history of the award to win it four or more times in a season. In addition to Richards, 13 other players playing in District 9 leagues and the Clearfield offensive line are being honored this week as honorable mention recipients. Their names appear below. D9Sports.Com is a web site in its third year of existence located at www.d9sports.com. The site covers athletics, primarily football in the fall, within the PIAAs District 9. The site is not affiliated with the PIAA in any way. For more information on the site, please visit it or e-mail the staff at d9sportscom@hotmail.com. The Player of the Week award and the Honor Roll are chosen by the three founding members of D9Sports.Com. The awards can be given to any players playing on one of the 29 teams who compete in a District 9 League. Those 29 teams include four teams who are non-District 9 teams (Sheffield, Eisenhower, Youngsville and West Shamokin) but play more than 75 percent of their games against District 9 opponents and compete for District 9 league titles. The awards are the only weekly awards given out in the District that represent the district as a whole. Honor roll members are listed alphabetically by school.
