EISENHOWER BEATS SAEGERTOWN IN D10 CLASS A SEMIFINALS |
FRIDAY NOV. 1 D10 CLASS A SEMIFINALS - Eisenhower 8, Saegertown 0 |
WARREN – Eisenhower advanced to the District 10 Class A championship game with an 8-0 win over top-seeded Saegertown Friday night at Warren. The Knights led 6-0 at halftime thanks to a 9-yard scoring run by Tyler Cathcart and then added a safety in the third quarter for the final margin of victory. Eisenhower will now play West Middlesex in the District 10 championship game. The Knights touchdown came on a fake punt that didn’t really work. Eisenhower attempted to fake the kick, but that pass was incomplete. A pass interference penalty on Saegertown, however, gave the Knights the ball back and a first down. Following a sack of quarterback Jacoby Curtis, Curtis hit Bart Moon on a 1-yard pass leaving the Knights at third-and-20 from the Saegertown 36. But Curtis hit Eric Sirianni with a 27-yard strike to the nine, and two plays later Cathcart carried it in for the score. In the third quarter, Josh Abbey nailed his second punt of the night inside the Saegertown 3-yard line. Three plays later, on third-and-9, Abbey broke free around end and sacked the Saegertown quarterback for the safety. The Eisenhower defense came up big all night long and once stopped Saegertown deep in Eisenhower territory when it had a first-and goal at the five. But the Knights defense stiffened and won’t allow Saegertown into the end zone. On the last two Saegertown possessions of the game, Cathcart came up with back-to-back interceptions to preserve the win. Curtis was 5-for-12 passing for 111 yards with Sirianni catching three passes for 76 yards. |
