WEST SUNBURY – Despite gaining only 174 yards of total
offense, Moniteau handily beat A-C Valley 28-0 in the KSAC and season
opener for both teams Friday night at Moniteau.
"Our defense played exceptionally well," Moniteau’s first-year head coach Steve Wilson said. "We were very pleased with the team’s effort and their hitting. We have to work our some kinks yet, but things are starting to come together." Moniteau gained 93 yards rushing on 18 carries in the game with Ben Elliott picking up 65 yards and two touchdowns on 10 carries and Steve Saul rushing nine times for 12 yards and a touchdown. Clay Kohlmeyer, making his first high school start at quarterback, was 7-for-14 passing for 81 yards and an interception. Pat Rumbaugh caught three passes for 46 yards and also returned a punt 56 yards for a touchdown, while Jeremy Moore had 2 catches for 19 yards. |
