JOHNSONBURG – Brockway defeated Johnsonburg Friday night at Johnsonburg 40-22.

Brockway (3-0 overall, 3-0 AML South) scored midway through the first quarter when Jeremy Sickeri ran in for a touchdown from the Johnsonburg 15-yard line. Jon Cantafio added the point after to give Brockway a 7-0 lead.

Brockway scored again on its next position. This was a 49-yard drive, which culminated with a Jon Cantafio 21-yard touchdown run. Cantafio added the point after to give Brockway a 14-0 lead after one quarter.

Brockway was marching again for a possible score when Eric Iorfido intercepted a John Himes pass at the 10:55 mark in the second quarter and raced 75 yards for Johnsonburg's first score. Johnsonburg converted the two-point conversion on a pass from Greg Wonderly to Eric Iorfido.

The Rovers took the ensuing kickoff and started at their own 40-yard line.

It took them six plays to cover 60 yards for a score.

John Himes hit Nick Pisarcik for a 24-yard touchdown pass. Brockway converted the two-point conversion on a Himes to Tom Bussard pass giving the Rovers a 22-8 lead.

Brockway scored two more times before the first half expired.

Jon Cantafio booted a 35-yard field goal, and with 24 seconds remaining in the half, John Himes scored on a 10-yard run. The Cantafio point after kick was good giving the Rovers a comfortable 32-8 lead at the intermission.

The third quarter belonged to the Rams. The entire quarter was played on the Brockway side of midfield.

The Rams scored when Eric Bennett picked up a Brockway fumble and raced 50 yards for the second Rams defensive score. Greg Wonderly again connected with Eric Iorfido for the two- point conversion to get the Rams back into the ball game.

Brockway was able to stop the Rams from any further scoring in the quarter, as their defense turned back the Rams deep in Brockway territory twice.

Brockway iced the game with seven minutes remaining when Jeremy Sickeri scored on a beautiful 25-yard screen pass from John Himes. The Cantafio PAT was blocked.

Less than a minute later Brockway's Rich Kolash and Garth McGee tackled Johnsonburg quarterback Greg Wonderly in the end zone for a safety to give the Rovers a commanding 40-16 lead.

The Rams scored once more against the Rovers reserves on a 59-yard pass from Wonderly to Dan Zeigler. The PAT was blocked to give Brockway a 40 - 22 win.

Brockway will host a tough Eisenhower team next week. The game can be heard on WDSN sunny 106.5 FM.
