since Oct. 22, 1999, the Otto-Eldred football team is a winner.
The Terrors broke a 27-game losing streak with a 21-15 win over Johnsonburg Friday night at Johnsonburg. The last time Otto-Eldred was in the win column before Friday night was that late October night in 1999 when the Terrors beat Youngsville 43-14. This time Virgil Graham was the hero rushing 16 times for 97 yards and two touchdowns. It was a 60-yard touchdown sprint by Graham with 9:12 left in the game that proved to be the difference for Otto-Eldred. Johnsonburg got on the score board first on a 1-yard run by Stephen Iorfido with 5:46 left in the opening quarter. Otto-Eldred closed to within 6-3 on a 35-yard field goal by Lee Windsor with 2:56 left in the quarter. The Terrors then took a 9-6 lead with 27 seconds left in the quarter on a 3-yard run by Graham. Johnsonburg went ahead 12-9 at halftime on a 1-yard run by Iorfido. The Rams then took a 15-9 lead on a 26-yard field goal by Dan Carnovale with 9:15 left in the third quarter. Otto-Eldred tied the game with 6:47 left in the third quarter on a 56-yard run by Jake Pessia. Iorfido led Johnsonburg with 23 carries for 105 yard and two scores. OTTO-ELDRED 21, JOHNSONBURG 15 |
