DuBois had an early 7-0 lead 1:53 into the game when Mark Bowley caught a 2-yard touchdown pass from Joe Wanson. But Oil City answered quickly scoring 31 unanswered points to end the first half with a 31-7 lead. Schwab got the Oilers on the board with a 4-yard run, and Eric Sabin’s 2-point conversion run gave Oil City the lead for good at 8-7. A 29-yard pass from Cody O’Brien to Schwab made it 16-7 at the end of the first quarter. In the second quarter, Sabin scored on a 1-yard run to make it 24-7, and Mike Karnish caught a 44-yard pass from O’Brien to make it 31-7. Oil City made it 38-7 in the third quarter on a 42-yard run by Schwab. DuBois closed out the scoring on a 15-yard run by Eric Stuby. Schwab ended the night with 91 yards rushing and 56 yards receiving. O’Brien was 4-for-7 for 115 yards and two touchdowns. For DuBois, Stuby ran nine times for 76 yards, while Wanson was 4-for-14 for 43 yards and a score. He also threw an interception. KANE 32, SMETHPORT 7 KANE – After going over 15 years between wins against Smethport, Kane has now beaten the Hubbers twice in a row (2000 & 2002) thanks to a 32-7 win Friday night at Kane. The Wolves (7-1) scored on their first three possessions to take a 19-0 halftime lead. Steve Chittester scored Kane’s first touchdown on a 3-yard run. A 35-yard run by Tyler Smith was the key to the drive. Matt Burton got the Wolves next score on a 1-yard run, and Smith hit Mike Jamerson for a 25-yard scoring strike to make the score 19-0. Mike Mitchell hit Craig Kandare early in the third quarter to get the Hubbers to within 12 points at 19-7, but Kane scored on a 1-yard run by Smith and a 3-yard run by Burton to put the game away. Burton led Kane’s rushing attack with 16 carries for 85 yards and two touchdowns. Smith added 8 carries for 75 yards, as the Wolves rushed for 230 yards in the game. Smith was 6-for-8 passing for 85 yards and a score. On defense Jamerson had a sack and blocked a punt (his fourth of the year), while Jake Anderson grabbed his seventh interception of the season. It is the first time since 1980 that Smethport (3-5) has lost five games in a season. In 1980, the Hubbers were 3-5-1. A loss next week against Ridgway would be the first time since the 1976 team went 3-7 that Smethport has lost at least six games in a season and only the 13th time in the 92 years of football. CURWENSVILLE 25, JOHNSONBURG 13 JOHNSONBURG – Curwensville rallied from a 13-10 deficit with two touchdowns in the final 7:03 to beat Johnsonburg 25-13 Friday night at Johnsonburg. The Golden Tide trailed by three following a touchdown pass from Greg Wonderly to Eric Iorfido with 11:09 left to play. Curwensville led 8-6 at halftime thanks to a 4-yard run by Doug Swatsworth and a 2-point run by Nate Sipes. Johnsonburg scored on a 15-yard pass from Wonderly to Steve Iorfido. Schreffler also returned an interception 60 yards for a touchdown. His interception return might have been the turning point in the game, as West Shamokin trailed 20-14 at the time and was driving. But the pick and return gave Meadville a 26-14 lead, and they never looked back. Josh Dracup added two touchdown runs and a touchdown catch while rushing for 86 yards.
