KANE – Brockway can clinch its first ever AML South title Friday night, but it won’t come easy with the Rovers have to travel to defending champion Kane to accomplish the feat.

Brockway, which is in its fifth year in the AML, comes into the game unbeaten and really untested. The Rovers are 6-0 but have beaten just one team, Ridgway, with a winning record. The six Rover opponents have combined to go 13-23 on the year.

Kane enters the contest with a 4-2 record with losses coming against Ridgway and Port Allegany, which have combined to go 10-2 on the season. Both games were close with the Wolves falling to Port Allegany by four points and Ridgway by six.

Last week Brockway beat Cameron County 38-6, while Kane held on to defeat Curwensville 21-20.

Brockway has used a combination of a high-powered offense and a solid defense to build its unbeaten record. The Rovers are averaging 36.7 ppg, the second best mark in District 9, while allowing 9.3 ppg, the third-best mark in District 9.

The Rovers offense also ranks second in the district in average yards per game with 370 per contest. Most of those yards have come on the ground where Brockway ranks second in the district with 288.8 yards per game. The Rovers do pass enough to keep opponents honest averaging 81.2 yards per game, the 17th best mark in District 9.

Brockway’s ground game is a three-pronged attack led by running backs Seth Rhed, Jeremy Sickeri and Andy Martino.

Rhed has rushed 69 times for 488 yards and 11 touchdowns and is the eighth best rusher in District 9. He has also caught a team-high seven passes for 82 yards.

Sickeri, from the long line of Sickeri brothers to pass through Brockway, has rushed 72 times for 447 yards and six touchdowns. He is the 10th leading rusher in District 9, and also has three catches for 65 yards and a touchdown.

Martino has carried the football 69 times for 414 yards and five touchdowns. He is the 14th leading rusher in District 9 while also catching four passes for 58 yards.

Quarterback John Himes has gone 27-for-56 (48.2%) for 474 yards and five touchdowns. He has also thrown three interceptions, and the 474 yards are the 11th most thrown for by a District 9 league quarterback. In addition to that his 138.21 quarterback rating is the third highest among quarterbacks with at least 40 attempts.

Himes’ favorite target in the end zone has been Matt Foradora who has six catches for a team-high 127 yards and four touchdowns. Ben Donlin is adding five catches for 114 yards.

Kane is averaging 21.2 ppg while allowing 14.3 ppg. The Wolves rank 12th in District 9 in yards per game averaging 243.2. The Wolves rushing attack ranks 10th averaging 173.7 yards per game, while Kane’s passing attack is 22nd averaging 69.5 yards per game.

The Wolves have spread the ball around this year on the ground with five rushers gaining at least 120 yards.
