SHIPPENVILLE Bradfords Brent Raabe is the fourth D9Sports.Com District 9 Football Player of the Week for the
2003 season after having a huge game both defense and offense for the Owls in a 31-28 win over Warren Sept. 20.
Raabe made 16 tackles on defense while helping to anchor an offensive line from his guard position that allowed Bradford to run for 44 times for 341 yards, an average of 7.75 yards per carry. He is the first offensive lineman honored as a D9Sports.Com District 9 Player of the Week. In addition to Raabe, the entire Bradford offensive line is being given special mention this week for helping the Owls to the big win. Fourteen additional players playing in District 9 leagues (including three District 10 schools and one District 7 school) are also being honored this week as Honorable Mention recipients. Their names appear below listed alphabetically by school. D9Sports.Com is a web site in its fourth year of existence located at www.d9sports.com. The site covers athletics, primarily football in the fall and boys and girls basketball in the winter, within the PIAAs District 9. The site is not affiliated with the PIAA in any way. For more information on the site, please visit it or e-mail the staff at d9sportscom@hotmail.com. The Player of the Week award and the Honor Roll are chosen by the three founding members of D9Sports.Com. The awards can be given to any players playing on one of the 29 teams who compete in a District 9 League. Those 29 teams include four teams who are non-District 9 teams (Sheffield, Eisenhower, Youngsville and West Shamokin) but play more than 75 percent of their games against District 9 opponents and compete for District 9 league titles. The awards, which are given from Week One through Week Nine, are the only weekly awards given out in the District that represent the district as a whole. Honor roll members are listed alphabetically by school.
