THREE DISTRICT 9 TEAMS SET FOR PIAA FOOTBALL PLAYOFFS

MECHANICSBURG – Three District 9 teams – Bradford, Brockway and Clarion-Limestone – have advanced to the PIAA Playoffs thanks to earning District 9 Championships over the weekend and will start play Friday.

Bradford will face District 6 champion Huntingdon in the PIAA Class AAA playoffs at 7 p.m. Friday at Memorial Field in State College.

Brockway will face District 10 champion Slippery Rock in the PIAA Class AA playoffs at 7 p.m. Friday at N. Kerr Thompson Stadium on the campus of Slippery Rock University. The game is a rematch of last year’s PIAA first-round contest won by Brockway 12-7

Clarion-Limestone will face District 10 champion West Middlesex in the PIAA Class A playoffs at 7 p.m. Friday at Memorial Stadium on the campus of Clarion University. The game is a rematch of last year’s PIAA first-round contest won by C-L 40-7.

The sites are determined on a rotating bases with one year the game being held in District 9 and the next year the game being held in District 6 for Class AAA and District 10 for Class AA and Class A. Last year District 9 hosted the Class AAA and Class AA games while District 10 hosted the Class A matchup.

The winner of the Bradford-Huntingdon game will play the winner of Friday’s first-round PIAA contest between Perry and Erie Strong Vincent.

The winner of the Brockway-Slippery Rock game will play the winner of Saturday’s District 5-6 championship game between Forest Hills and Tyrone

The winner of the Clarion-Limestone-West Middlesex game will play the winner of Saturday’s District 5-6 championship game between Northern Cambria and Bishop Carroll.
