DUBOIS – Bradford won its first outright D9 League title since 1988 with a 36-7 win over DuBois Friday night in DuBois.

The Owls (7-0 overall, 5-0 D9 League) shared the D9 League title with both Clearfield and DuBois in 2000 and 2001.

DuBois got to within eight points on a 5-yard run by Rob Hanzely with 9:45 left in the game.

Bradford answered back a 45-yard touchdown pass from Mike Austin to Sean Hvizdzak with 6:25 left in the game easily the longest pass of the year for the Owls who had thrown for just 44 yards all season coming into the game.

Fifty-five second later the Owls put the game away on a 1-yard run by Dave Snyder, and Hvizdzak added icing to the cake when he returned an interception 85 yards for a touchdown with 2:48 to play.

Snyder opened the scoring for Bradford on a 2-yard run with 4:58 left in the first half. Kyle MacFarlane then gave the Owls a 9-0 halftime lead with a 25-yard field goal as time expired in the opening half.

The Owls went ahead 15-0 on a 35-yard run by Aaron O’Toole with 3:51 left in the third quarter.
