BROCKWAY 27, RIDGWAY 6

RIDGWAY — Brockway Rovers quarterback John Himes turned in another efficient performance and led a balanced offensive attack in a 27-6 Allegheny Mountain League victory over Ridgway Friday night.

The Rovers (2-0) broke a 6-6 tie late in the first half when Himes connected with Jeremy Sickeri on a 52-yard TD pass with 31 second left in the second quarter. Himes completed 8 of 13 passes for 171 yards and two touchdowns.

Eight running backs combined to gain 191 yards for the Rovers, who outgained Ridgway, 261-218. Seth Rhed, who opened the scoring on a 6-yard run late in the first quarter, led the Rovers with 62 yards on 11 carries.

The Rovers took a 12-6 lead into the locker room and continued the momentum in the third quarter. Andy Martino scored on a 1-yard run at the 7:46 mark and Himes tossed his second TD pass to Matt Foradora from seven yards out to set the final margin with 3:54 left in the third quarter.

Ridgway (1-1) scored its only touchdown late in the first half when quarterback Garrett Viglione threw an 11-yard TD pass to Tim Wright. Sixteen seconds later, the Rovers scored on the long pass play from Himes to Sickeri.

Both teams are in action this Friday. Brockway hosts Johnsonburg while Ridgway travels to Kane.

KANE 37, JOHNSONBURG 22

JOHNSONBURG — Jake Anderson rushed for 272 yards and scored two touchdowns as visiting Kane downed Kane, 37-22, in an Allegheny Mountain League showdown between neighboring rivals Friday night.

Anderson needed 20 carries to get his rushing total, scoring on a 1-yard run to start the scoring in the first quarter. He also caught three passes for 102 yards, which included a 65-yard reception from quarterback Mike Giordano in the third quarter.

Kane (1-1) pulled away in the second half. Johnsonburg (0-2) got within 16-14 when Rams QB Anthony Imbrogno connected with Eric Iorfido for a 32-yard TD pass with 8:28 left in the third quarter. The Wolves answered with three straight touchdowns, Giordano's TD pass to Anderson, Steve Chittester’s second TD run from 26 yards out and Eastman's 14-yard TD reception late in the fourth quarter.

Kane outgained Johnsonburg, 488-221.

The Rams got three TD passes from backup quarterback Anthony Imbrogno, who replaced starter Greg Wonderly in the first half. He completed 7 of 15 passes for 142 yards. Iorfido caught two TD passes and finished with six receptions for 111 yards.

Both teams play again this Friday. Johnsonburg visits Brockway while Kane hosts Ridgway.

REDBANK VALLEY 54, WEST SHAMOKIN 34

NuMINE — Redbank Valley jumped out to a 28-6 first-half advantage, which was enough to withstand a 337-yard passing effort by West Shamokin QB Trevor Henderson, as the Bulldogs beat the Wolves, 54-34, in a Keystone Shortway Athletic Conference matchup Friday night.

The Bulldogs (2-0) scored 22 points in a span of 2:29 late in the second quarter. Skylar Smith made it 35-6 when he opened the second half scoring with a 68-yard run. Smith finished with 170 yards on 16 carries and two touchdowns.

West Shamokin's Henderson passed for five touchdowns, four of them in the second half when he completed 15 of 16 passes with his team trailing. For the game, Henderson finished 19-of-26 and was also intercepted twice. Jerry Wilson (5 catches, 119 yards) and Logan Kaplon (7-119) each caught two TD passes.

Despite the big numbers from Henderson, Redbank Valley kept the Wolves at a distance with four second-half touchdowns. Tyson Truitt scored three touchdowns, two of them in the first half on a 49-yard interception return and a 2-yard pass from QB Shane Reed. He caught a 49-yard TD pass in the second half.

Reed, last week's D9sports.Com Player of the Week, had another solid effort, completing 10 of 18 passes for 156 yards. He threw three touchdowns and was intercepted twice.

Brandon Brinker added a defensive touchdown for Redbank Valley, returning an interception 49 yards for a score with 1:02 left in the first half.

PORT ALLEGANY 41, CAMERON COUNTY 12

PORT ALLEGANY — Port Allegany running back Claude Haskins scored three touchdowns to lead the Gators past Cameron County, 41-12, Saturday afternoon in an Allegheny Mountain League game.

Haskins scored on runs of 6 and 5 yards and hauled in a 56-yard TD pass from quarterback Craig Flint to open the game's scoring early in the first quarter. He rushed for 75 yards on 14 carries, caught one pass for 57 yards, made nine tackles and had ˝ a sack.

Port Allegany (2-0) led 27-6 at intermission and put up the first two scores of the second half to enact the Mercy Rule running clock with a 41-6 advantage at the 5:48 mark of the third quarter.

Flint ran for a 1-yard TD and tossed a 48-yard scoring pass to Jeremy Niece and Robert Nichols added a 3-yard TD run. Flint was 2-for-6 passing for 64 yards, a touchdown and an interception. Willie Bova was 2-for-3 passing for 57 yards and a score.

Keith Horning led Cameron County (0-2) with 94 yards rushing on six carries. He scored the Red Raiders' second TD on a 79-yard run in the fourth quarter. QB Kyle Vogt scored on a 16-yard run in the second quarter.

Port outgained Cameron, 348-185.

Both teams play this Friday. Port Allegany travels to Smethport and Cameron County hosts Elk County Catholic.

ELK COUNTY CATHOLIC 12, CURWENSVILLE 2

ST. MARYS — Elk County Catholic didn't win the yardage battle, but helped force four Curwensville turnovers in a 12-2 victory over the Golden Tide Saturday night at Dutch Country Stadium.

The Crusaders (1-1) were outgained, 263-158, but got a touchdown run from Anthony Tettis from one yard out in the first quarter and a 4-yard TD pass from Andrew Blazek to Randy Pearsall in the fourth quarter.

Curwensville (0-2) scored on a safety when Blazek, the ECC punter, was downed in his own end zone with 38 seconds left in the game.

Tettis led ECC with 77 yards rushing on 21 carries. Tide QB Dean Swatsworth completed 9 of 23 passes for 125 yards and was intercepted twice, both times by Tettis. Greg Gilbert caught four passes for 87 yards.

Both teams play this Friday. Curwensville visits Coudersport and ECC travels to Cameron County.

MONITEAU 27, A-C VALLEY 7

FOXBURG – Steve Saul scored two touchdowns to help lead Moniteau to a 27-7 win over A-C Valley in KSAC action Friday night in Foxburg.

Saul scored on runs of 1 and 3 yards, while Ryan Rumbaugh scored on a 72-yard run and Matt Schandelmeier on a 2-yard run for the Warriors (1-1 overall, 1-1 KSAC).

Luiz Goncalzes 15-yard pass to Brad Hurrelbrink accounted for the lone Falcon points.

Moniteau jumped to a quick 21-0 first quarter led before A-C Valley made in 21-7 at the end of the quarter. Schandelmeier’s touchdown in the second quarter closed out the scoring.

Thanks to the long run, Rumbaugh had a big night for Moniteau rushing 10 times for 126 yards. Saul toted the ball 16 times for 90 yards, while Clay Kohlmeyer was 10-for-17 for 86 yards while also throwing two interceptions.

Goncalzes had a nice night for A-C Valley (0-2, 0-2) going 11-for-26 for 126 yards and a score while tossing three interceptions. Hurrelbrink caught three passes for 37 yards and rushed 20 times for 31 yards.

With DuBois beat Punxsutawney, A-C Valley now owns the longest current losing streak in District 9 at 16 games.

KEYSTONE 46, UNION 0

RIMERSBURG – Sam Swartzfager scored three times to help lead Keystone (1-1 overall, 1-1 KSAC) to a 46-0 shutout win over Union (0-2, 0-2) Friday night in Rimersburg.

Swartzfager, who ran for 126 yards, scored on runs of 19 and 18 yards and caught a 60-yard scoring pass from Justin Bifano.

Buck Neely was 6-for-14 passing for 107 yards and a 27-yard scoring pass to Billy Colwell. He also ran for 85 yards and two touchdowns (20 yards, 11 yards). Eric Baughman also scored for the Panthers, who ran for 347 yards.

Adam Milanovich was 11-for-22 passing for Union for 59 yards and two interceptions with Jeremy Craig catching five passes for 44 yards. Craig also ran seven times for 32 yards.

OTTO-ELDRED 27, SHEFFIELD 7

SHEFFIELD – Luke Breese ran for 79 yards and three touchdowns while Virgil Graham added 130 yards and a score to lead Otto-Eldred to a 27-7 win over Sheffield Saturday afternoon at Sheffield.

No other statistics were reported.

BRADFORD 14, OLEAN (NY) 0

OLEAN, NY – Dave Snyder rushed for 145 yards on 27 carries, while teammate Sean Hvizdzak added 19 carries for 108 yards to lead Bradford to a 14-0 win over interstate rival Olean (NY) Saturday night in Olean.

Aaron O’Toole also had a nice night for the Owls (2-0) rushing 11 times for 61 yards and a touchdown, as Bradford ran 62 times for 325 yards.

Quarterback Mike Austin was 2-for-4 for four yards and two interceptions, but he threw a touchdown pass to O’Toole, who caught both passes.

Bradford scored all its points in the third quarter scoring on an 11-yard run by O’Toole and a 2-yard pass from Austin to O’Toole.

The Owls defense completely shutdown Olean holding the Huskies to 33 total yards off offense including negative 13 rushing and four first downs. Bradford ran 66 plays to 27 for Olean.

It was the 106th meeting between the two teams that sit just across the Pennsylvania-New York border from each other. The series first started in 1893.

SMETHPORT 15, YOUNGSVILLE 14

YOUNGSVILLE – Mike Mitchell ran for 114 yards and a touchdown, while Bryant Tronetti led a strong defensive effort with 10 tackles, two tackles for a loss and two forced fumbles, including a game-sealing fumble late, to help Smethport to a 15-14 win over Youngsville in AML North action Friday night.

Matt Switzer was 6-for-17 passing for 24 yards and one touchdown to go with an interception for Smethport (2-0). Rob Hargett had two catches for eight yards and a score. Nick Vandermark added what ended up being the decisive points with a 31-yard field goal.

Rob Therut led Youngsville (1-1) with 12 carries for 109 yards and a touchdown Darrell Beahon had the other score for the Eagles.

COUDERSPORT 10, EISENHOWER 0

RUSSELL – Coudersport scored early and then played good defense to hold off Eisenhower 10-0 in an AML North contest Friday night at Eisenhower.

The Falcons (2-0) scored on their first possession when Ross Simcoe scored on a 2-yard run on fourth-and-goal to give Coudersport a 7-0 lead. The big play of the drive was a 42-yard pass from Scott Easton to Mike Kehr that put the ball on the two.

Coudersport went up 10-0 when Nick Keagle booted a 24-yard field goal.

Easton finished the game 4-for-11 passing for 106 yards, while Simcoe carried the ball 19 times for 54 yards.

Mark Collins led Eisenhower with 10 carries for 75 yards, but Collins was thrown out of the game following after a personal foul. Under PIAA rules, Collins will have to sit out next week’s game at Sheffield. With Collins ejected, quarterback Bart Moon moved from behind center to running back, and Dave Hoisington game in at quarterback.

Moon finished with eight carries for 23 yards and was 6-for-15 passing for 77 yards and two interceptions. Hoisington was 2-for-7 passing for 10 yards. Andy Bacchetti had two grabs for 33 yards.
