Copley scored on a 4-yard run and threw a 12-yard scoring strike to Casey Castile, and Brandon Lobdell also scored on a 9-yard run for the Wolverines.

Sheffield outgained Smethport 300-150 in the game.

Copley was 7-for-11 passing for 101 yards while running 13 times for 38 yards.

Mike Mitchell led Smethport, who has lost five straight, with 17 carries for 75 yards.

CLEARFIELD 48, BALD EAGLE AREA 0

WINGATE – Clearfield outgained Bald Eagle Area 410 yards to 8 yards including 300 to minus 30 in the first half on its way to an easy 48-0 win Friday night at Bald Eagle Area.

The Bison (5-2) winners of five straight scored on all six first-half possessions while building a 42-0 halftime lead. Clearfield outrushed Bald Eagle 269-8 and outpassed it 141-0. Josh Harbold had another big game with 19 carries for 132 yards and three touchdowns. Tanner Kelly added a 6-for-7 performance for 141 yards and two scores with Mike Scoggins catching five of the passes for 129 yards and two touchdowns.

Kelly got the scoring started for Clearfield with a 2-yard run. Harbold then scored on a 5-yard run, and Kelly hit Scoggins with a 45-yard scoring toss and the rout was on.

Clearfield kept up the pressure scoring three more times in the second quarter on runs of 47 and 13 yards by Harbold and a 25-yard pass from Kelly to Scoggins.

The Bison added a seventh touchdown in the fourth quarter on a 1-yard run by Kyle Shirey.

JOHNSONBURG 19, CAMERON COUNTY 12

JOHNSONBURG – Ted Cherry scored two touchdowns to help Johnsonburg to a 19-12 win over Cameron County Friday night at Johnsonburg.

Cherry scored on a 30-yard first-half run and on a 48-yard second-half touchdown pass from Anthony Imbrogno. At the time, both scores tied the game – first at 6-6 and then at 12-12. Don Lee Werner gave the Rams the victory with a 2-yard run later in the game.

Cameron County had gotten the scoring started with a 10-yard pass from Kyle Vogt to Jordan Brown before Cherry tied the game at six at halftime.

At the start of the second half a 1-yard run by Vogt gave the Red Raiders the lead. But once again Cherry tied the score for Johnsonburg.

OTTO-ELDRED 36, ELK COUNTY CATHOLIC 6

DUKE CENTER – Virgil Graham ran 13 times for 169 yards and three touchdowns to help Otto-Eldred break a two-game losing streak with a 36-6 win over Elk County Catholic Friday night at Otto-Eldred.

With the win the Terrors keep their slim District 9 Class AA playoff hopes alive. In order for Otto-Eldred (4-3) to get into the playoffs they need to win their last two regular-season games and have either Karns City or Moniteau or both lose their final two regular-season games.

Luke Breese added a touchdown pass, a field goal and three extra points for the Terrors who led 20-0 at halftime and 36-0 before ECC (1-6) ever reached the scoreboard.

Graham scored on runs of 27, 47 and 34 yards.

Chris Zampogna scored ECC’s lone touchdown with 1:14 left to play on a 47-yard run. Zampogna finished the game with three carries for 39 yards. Jude Wendel led ECC with 14 carries for 66 yards.

PORT ALLEGANY 44, EISENHOWER 13

RUSSELL – Port Allegany scored five times on big plays to beat Eisenhower 44-13 Friday night in AML North action.

With the win, the Gators (6-1 overall, 6-1 AML North) moved a step closer to clinching a District 9 Class A playoff spot. If Port Allegany wins next week the Gators are in the playoffs. They can also clinch a playoff spot even with a loss next week if Redbank Valley loses one of its last two games.

Against Eisenhower (3-4, 3-4), the Gators scored on a 42-yard run, a 79-yard pass, a 55-yard punt return, a 28-yard fumble recovery and a 5-yard interception. They also added a 3-yard run and a 10-yard pass.

Bobby Nichols, who led the Gators with 11 carries for 129 yards, scored twice in the first quarter on runs of 42 and 3 yards to post Port Allegany to a 13-0 lead at the end of 12 minutes.

Craig Flint, who finished the game 2-for-2 for 89 yards and two touchdowns, threw his first scoring strike of the night on a 10-yard pass to Jeremy Niece, who had both catches, to give the Gators a 19-0 lead.

Flint and Niece hooked up again, this time from 79 yards out, to make it 25-0, before Eisenhower’s Bart Moon scored on a 2-yard run making it 25-6 at halftime.

A 55-yard punt return by Nichols in the fourth quarter made it 31-6, and two defensive touchdowns made it 44-6. Cody Anderson had the first score for the defense on the 28-yard fumble return, and Gordon Thomas added a 5-yard interception return.

Eisenhower closed out the scoring with a 1-yard run by Mark Collins.

The Knights did hold the district’s leading rusher Claude Haskins, who had gone over 200 yards in each of the last two weeks and three times this season, to just 87 yards on 17 carries. It was the third lowest total for Haskins this season.

KARNS CITY 35, A-C VALLEY 0

KARNS CITY – Karns City moved a step closer to yet another District 9 Class AA playoff berth with a 35-0 win over A-C Valley Friday night at Karns City.

The Gremlins (5-2 overall, 5-2 KSAC) need a victory in one of its final two regular-season games to clinch a spot in the postseason.

Mike Croyle had a big night for the Gremlins throwing for a career-high 164 yards while also tossing his first two touchdown passes of the year. He was 9-for-18 passing on the night.

Kevin Trimbur got the scoring started on a 7-yard pass from Croyle, and Jake Sweeney made it 13-0 at the end of the first quarter on a 1-yard run.

A 17-yard run by Chris Picket gave the Gremlins a 21-0 halftime lead, and in the second half Josh Fiscus scored on a 9-yard run and Mike Stimac caught a 65-yard pass from Croyle.

Fiscus added 16 carries for 84 yards, while Luis Goncalves led A-C Valley with 10 carries for 57 yards.

BROOKVILLE 16, OIL CITY 12

OIL CITY – Once again Brookville had just enough gas in the tank to get a win beating Oil City 16-12 Friday night in Oil City.

It was the sixth straight week the Raiders (6-1) have been in a game decided by seven points or less, the fifth time this season they have been in a game decided by five points or less and the fourth straight week the game was decided by less than a touchdown. In those six games, Brookville is 5-1 winning the five games by a grand total of 17 points.

The Raiders scored first on a 64-yard pass from Nick Heschke to Cliff Park one play after Brookville had recovered a weird fumble at its own 36-yard line. Oil City actually fumbled the ball twice on the same play with the Oilers recovering the first one but not being so lucky on the second one.

Oil City knotted the game up at 6-6 on a 1-yard run by Corey Schwab on fourth-and-goal with 2:09 left in the first quarter.

Brockville took the lead back on a 33-yard pass from Heschke to Brent Puller with 3:58 left in the first half making it 13-6.

The Raiders then went ahead 16-6 before halftime when Matt Mohney intercepted a pass at the Oil City 49-yard line with 23 seconds left. Two Heschke completions led to a 44-yard field goal by Brandon Gunning.

Oil City made it 16-12 on a 15-yard scoring pass from Cody O’Brien to Matt Kulinski with 6:47 left in the third quarter. But the Oilers never crossed the 50-yard line the rest of the game.
