FIFTEEN DISTRICT 9 FOOTBALL PLAYERS NAMED ALL-STATE BY PENNSYLVANIA FOOTBALL NEWS |
| LOCK HAVEN – Clarion-Limestone running back’s Brendan Huwar’s selection to the
Class A First-Team offense highlights the District 9 representation on the Pennsylvania Football News All-State
Football team released last week.
Huwar is one of four Clarion-Limestone players and one of 15 District 9 players to be honored on a first, second or third team by the PFN. Joining Huwar as Class A selections from C-L are second-team offensive lineman David Ferguson, third team wide receiver Brad Beggs and second-team linebacker Hayden Johnston. Five additional District 9 players join the C-L players on various Class A teams including third-team offensive lineman Nate McClaine of Clarion, third-team running back Claude Haskins of Port Allegany, second-team defensive lineman Jared Cecchetti of Kane, third-team defensive lineman Ray Kelly of Ridgway and third-team linebacker Ross Simcoe of Coudersport. Two District 9 players are on the Class AA squads including third-team offensive lineman Kyle Smith of Brockway and third-team defensive lineman Matt Gilbert of Brookville. Three Bradford players made the Class AAA squads including second-team offensive lineman Joe Reinhardt, second-team place kicker Kyle Macfarlane and third-team running back Sean Hvizdzak. Clearfield wide receiver Michael Scoggins joins Hvizdzak on the third-team offense. NOTES – In December the Associated Press named five District 9 players to its All-State team. The five were second-team Class A offensive selections David Ferguson (offensive line) and Brandon Huwar (running back) of C-L, Class AA second-team offensive lineman Kyle Smith of Brockway, Class AAA second-team offensive lineman Joe Reinhardt of Bradford and Class AAA second-team place kicker Ryan Johnson of Clearfield.
