Football News Class A Top 10 coming in at No. 10 in the poll released Sept. 28.
The Lions (5-0) have won 22 straight regular-season games and 25 of their past 27 games and are the defending District 9 Class A champions. Four additional District 9 teams make PFN’s "Others to Watch" list including Bradford (5-0) in Class AAA, Brockway (5-0) and Brookville (5-0) in Class AA and Coudersport (5-0) in Class A. Southern Columbia (4-1) is the top Class A team this week, while Monessen (5-0) is the top Class A team from the Western Region at No. 5. Mount Carmel (5-0), who handed Southern Columbia its only loss of the season in Week Two in overtime, is the No. 1 team in Class AA, while No. 2 Aliquippa (5-0) is the top team from the Western Region. Strath Haven (5-0) is the top team in Class AAA, while No. 3 Blackhawk (5-0) is the top team from the Western Region. C-L has been ranked in the Top 10 in the Harrisburg Patriot-News poll for most of the season. The Lions were ranked No. 8 last week.
