CLARION-LIMESTONE'S JOHNSTON D9SPORTS.COM DISTRICT 9 FOOTBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK FOR WEEK ONE 2004

15 players named to District 9 Honor Roll

SHIPPENVILLE – Clarion-Limestone senior quarterback/linebacker Hayden Johnston is the first D9Sports.Com District 9 Player of the Week for the 2004 season.

Johnston was instrumental in C-L’s season-opening 42-8 win over A-C Valley, the Lions 27th consecutive regular-season win dating back to 2001. He was 10-for-18 passing for 250 yards and four touchdowns while adding 85 yards rushing on seven carries. He also returned a kickoff 84 yards for a touchdown, recovered a fumble on defense and kicked a 52-yard punt with the kick going all 52 yards in the air.

It is the second time in his career that Johnston, last year’s D9Sports.Com District 9 Player of the Year, has won a Player of the Week award.

Johnston beat out Curwensville’s Nate Sipes (151 yards rushing, 4 touchdowns) and Port Allegany’s Cody Anderson (151 yards rushing, 4 touchdowns; 28 yards receiving, interception on defense) for the award. Sipes and Anderson join 13 additional players on the District 9 Honor Roll this week. The honor roll recipients are listed below in alphabetical order by school.
