SHIPPENVILLE – For the second week in a row, Clarion-Limestone senior quarterback/linebacker Hayden Johnston is
the D9Sports.Com District 9 Player of the Week.
In Week Two, Johnston led the Lions to a 42-7 win at Karns City by going 9-for-15 passing for 214 yards and four touchdowns, running 11 times for 134 yards and a touchdown and making 13 tackles on defense. In two games this season, Johnston has passed for 464 yards and eight touchdowns and ran for 219 yards and a score while helping the Lions to a 2-0 start. C-L has now won 28 straight regular-season games. It is the third time in his career Johnston, last year’s D9Sports.Com District 9 Player of the Year, has won a Player of the Week award. He is the first back-to-back Player of the Week winner since Clearfield’s Dave Richards won four straight awards from Week Four to Week Seven 2002. Johnston beat out Johnsonburg’s Calvin Grumley (34 carries, 192 yards, 1 touchdown; 1 catch, 8 yards, 1 touchdown; Returned a punt 88 yards for a touchdown; 298 all-purpose yards) and teammate Erik White (4 catches, 144 yards, 3 touchdowns) for the award. Grumley and White join 13 additional players on the District 9 Honor Roll. The honor roll recipients are listed below in alphabetical order by school.
