SHIPPENVILLE – Ridgway’s Adam Handley did something that hadn’t been done in the state of Pennsylvania in 71
years when he grabbed five interceptions in Friday night’s game at Cameron County. Handley’s five picks ties
the state record set by Pottsville’s Matt Whitaker way back in 1933.
When you add the five interceptions to 19 tackles and over 200 all-purpose yards (2 kickoff returns, offensive receiving and interceptions yardage) its equals out to Handley claiming the ninth and final District 9 Player of the Week sponsored by D9Sports.com of the 2004 season. Joining Handley in being honored this week are 15 additional players on the District 9 Honor Roll including Redbank Valley’s Brandon Johnston who incredibly ran for 224 yards and three touchdowns on just seven carries, an average of 31.7 yards per carry. The Honor Roll recipients are listed below in alphabetical order by school.
