RIDGWAY'S HANDLEY TIES STATE RECORD FOR INTERCEPTIONS IN A GAME

RIDGWAY – Ridgway’s Adam Handley tied the 71-year old state record for interceptions in a game when he picked off five Cameron County passes in a 41-14 Ridgway (2-7) win over Cameron County (0-9) Friday night.

According to state records compiled by the Pennsylvania Football News, Handley tied the state record set by Pottsville’s Matt Whitaker in 1933.

Hadley had a big all-around night coming up with 19 tackles and over 200 all-purpose yards (2 kickoff returns, offensive receiving and interception yardage).

According to the PFN, the national record for interceptions in a game going into this season was nine set by Ken Goin of Broome, South Carolina, in 1981. It is not known if anyone has had more than nine this season.
