15 additional players on Honor Roll
SHIPPENVILLE – Coudersport senior running back David Babcock is the first D9Sports.com District 9 football Player of the Week for the 2005 season.

Babcock played a key role in Coudersport’s season-opening 26-18 win over visiting Johnsonburg Friday night totaling 323 all-purpose yards and four touchdowns. He rushed 29 times for 182 yards and three touchdowns and returned kickoffs for another 121 yards including a 97-yard return of the second-half kickoff for a touchdown.

Three additional District 9 players gave Babcock stiff competition for the Player of the Week award including Clarion’s Chris McSwain (152 yards rushing, 4 touchdowns), Curwensville’s Nick Sipes (158 yards rushing, 4 touchdowns) and DuBois’ Ryan Liddle (170 yards passing, 3 touchdowns).

McSwain, Sipes and Anderson are join 12 additional players on the District 9 Honor Roll this week. The honor roll recipients are listed below in alphabetical order by school.

David Babcock – Coudersport: 29 carries, 182 yards, 3 touchdowns; Returned a kickoff 97 yards for a touchdown; 323 total yards; Scored all four Coudersport touchdowns in an 8-point win. – Coudersport 26, Johnsonburg 18.

HONOR ROLL

Anthony Varischetti – Brockway: 3-for-8 passing, 41 yards, 1 touchdown, 1 interception; Intercepted three passes on defense.

Chris McSwain – Clarion: 8 carries for 152 yards, 4 touchdowns – Clarion 71, A-C Valley 0.

David Brooks – Clarion-Limestone: 12 carries, 68 yards; 8-for-13 passing, 45 yards, 1 touchdowns; 6 catches, 68 yards. Threw game-winning touchdown pass with 7:55 left in the game. Was not C-L’s starting quarterback, but was forced into action because of an injury in the first half to the starter – C-L 8, Moniteau 7.

Lucas Aughenbaugh – Clearfield: 19 carries, 153 yards, 2 touchdowns; Scored game-winning touchdown in 2nd overtime – Clearfield 28, Bradford 21, 2 overtimes.

Nick Sipes – Curwensville: 17 carries, 159 yards, 4 touchdowns – Curwensville 43, Smethport 0.

Ryan Liddle – DuBois: 10-for-13 passing, 170 yards, 3 touchdowns; 5 carries, 11 yards – DuBois 35, Central Mountain 14.

Taylor Kriner – DuBois: 4 catches, 99 yards, 2 touchdowns; 1 interception on defense – DuBois 35, Central Mountain 14.

Kevin Genevro – Elk County Catholic: 2 catches, 60 yards, 2 touchdowns; 1 interception on defense – ECC 18, Cameron County 14.
