SHIPPENVILLE – It is almost unheard of for a high school football player to account for all of his team’s
offense in a game. It is even rarer for a player to account for MORE than his team’s offense in a game especially
when that offense gains over 400 yards in the game.
But that is exactly what happened in Clarion-Limestone’s 29-27 win over Keystone Friday night, and that is the reason C-L’s Scott Davis is the D9Sports.com District 9 Football Player of the Week for Week 6 of the 2005 season Davis, a junior quarterback, accounted for 103 percent of the Lions (6-0) offense on the night (442 yards of 429 total yards) by going 16-for-22 passing for 210 yards, one touchdown and one interceptions and running 30 times for 232 yards and two touchdowns. That continues a stellar campaign for Davis who is completing 62.3 percent (81 of 130) of his passes for a District 9-leading 987 yards, seven touchdowns and four interceptions. He has also run 110 times for 397 yards and five touchdowns while catching two passes for five yards. Overall, he has accounted for 78.5 percent of the Lions offense this year (1,384 of 1,762 yards). While Davis was the clear choice for Player of the Week, he did get some competition from Curwensville’s Nick Sipes (200 yards rushing, 5 touchdowns), Coudersport’s David Babcock (152 yards rushing, 4 touchdowns), Port Allegany’s Cody Anderson (179 yards rushing, 2 touchdowns, 89 yards receiving 2 touchdowns) and Kane’s Kyle Oakes (192 yards rushing, 3 touchdowns, returned a kickoff for a touchdown). Sipes, Babcock, Anderson and Oakes are joined by 11 additional players on the District 9 Honor Roll this week. The honor roll recipients are listed below in alphabetical order by school.
