DISTRICT 9 ANNOUNCED FOOTBALL PLAYOFF SEEDINGS

BROOKVILLE – District 9 Football Chairman Bob Tonkin released the 2005 District 9 playoff brackets Sunday.

In the 8-team Class A bracket, Coudersport (9-0) is the No. 1 seed, Clarion (7-2) is the No. 2 seed, Clarion-Limestone (8-1) is the No. 3 seed, Curwensville (7-2) is the No. 4 seed, Port Allegany (7-2) is the No. 5 seed, Johnsonburg (6-3) is the No. 6 seed, Elk County Catholic (5-4) is the No. 7 seed and Kane (5-4) is the No. 8 seed.

In the 5-team, Class AA bracket, Karns City (7-2) is the No. 1 seed, Brockway (6-3) is No. 2, Redbank Valley (5-4) is No. 3, Brookville (4-5) is No. 4 and Moniteau (4-5) is No. 5.

The 2-team Class AAA bracket sees St. Marys (5-4) as the top seed and Clearfield (5-4) as the No. 2 seed.

District 9 plays a combined bracket with District 10 in Class AAAA. DuBois (8-1), D9’s lone Class AAAA team, is the top seed. Erie McDowell is No. 2 and Erie Cathedral Prep is No. 3.

In Class A and Class AA the higher seeds get home-field advantage in the opening two rounds with the championship game being played at a neutral site. The Class AAA and Class AAAA games are at neutral sites.

Friday, Nov. 4, in Class A, Coudersport will host Kane and Clarion will host ECC at 7 p.m. in Class A, while Brookville hosts Moniteau in Class AA.

Saturday, Nov. 5, has two Class A games with C-L hosting Johnsonburg and Curwensville hosting Port Allegany at 7 p.m.

Two weeks from now, the Class AAA championship game will be played Friday Nov. 11 between St. Marys and Clearfield at a site and time to be determined.

In Class AAAA DuBois will play the winner of this coming weeks game between Cathedral Prep and McDowell either Nov. 11 or 12 at a site and time to be determined.

The Class AA semifinals will pit the winner of the Moniteau-Brookville game at Karns City Friday Nov. 11 at 7 p.m., while Brockway will host Redbank Valley Saturday Nov. 12 also at 7 p.m.

The Class A semifinals will pit the Coudy-Kane winner playing the Curwensville-Port winner Friday Nov. 11 at the highest remaining seed, while the Clarion-ECC winner will play the C-L-J-Burg winner Saturday Nov. 12 also at the highest remaining seed.

The Class A and Class AA title games will be played either Nov. 18 or 19 at sites and times to be announced.
