By Blaise O’Connor PORT ALLEGANY – Port Allegany quarterback Willie Bova ran for a touchdown and threw for a touchdown, and Cody Anderson ran for two more scores to lift Port Allegany to a season-opening 31-0 win over Ridgway Saturday afternoon in Port Allegany. The Gators scored on each of their three first-quarter possessions and raced to an 18-0 lead. Port’s first score came following a failed fourth-down fake punt by Ridgway that set the Gators up at the Ridgway 45. Anderson finished the drive with a 3-yard run. On Ridgway’s second possession, the Elkers lost a fumble setting up a 7-yard Bova touchdown run. An 8-yard punt by Ridgway set up Port’s next score, which was an 18-yard pass from Bova to Brian Mickle. Port Allegany extended the lead to 25-0 at halftime thanks to a 6-yard run by Nick Nichols. Anderson finished the scoring with a 14-yard run in the third quarter. Anderson finished with 14 carries for 91 yards and two scores, while Chad Saltsman had nine runs for 72 yards. Bova was 7 of 11 passing for 120 yards, a touchdown and an interception. Adam Handley led Ridgway with 9 carries for 21 yards and two catches for 46 yards.
