The Crusaders (2-0 overall, 2-0 AML South) trailed 7-0 at the end of the first quarter but scored the next 21 points to take a 21-7 lead early in the third quarter.

Kane (1-1, 1-1) cut the lead to 21-14 late in the third quarter before ECC put it away with 12 unanswered fourth quarter points.

ECC had a chance to tie the game after Oakes’ score, but the Wolves came up with a goal-line stand on fourth-and-1 from the Kane 1.

The Wolves then moved out to their own 40 when Zach Anderson hit Paul Eastman with a 7-yard pass and a first down. But Eastman fumbled the ball, and ECC took over.

The Crusaders capitalized immediately on the turnover when Mahoney hit A.J. Seelye with a 31-yard pass to tie the score at seven with 9:44 left in the first half.

Another Kane turnovers – this time a fumble by Oakes – set ECC up with another short field late in the second quarter. Once again the Crusaders took advantage with a 5-yard pass from Mahoney to McCullough giving ECC a 14-7 halftime lead.

The Crusaders made it 21-7 on their first drive of the second half when Anthony Mastrogiacomo scored on a 1-yard run.

Kane answered with a 46-yard touchdown pass from Anderson to Alex Fadenholz to cut the lead to 21-14.
