COUDERSPORT – David Babcock ran for 289 yards and three touchdowns on 23 carries to lead Coudersport to a 42-14 win over Kane Friday night at Coudersport.

Babcock’s 289 yards is possible a school record, although that couldn’t be confirmed Friday night.

Teammate Sam Decker added 162 yards rushing and a touchdown for Coudersport, which led 22-0 less than five minutes into the game.

Things started down hill for Kane on the opening kickoff when Coudersport recovered a fumble at the Kane 33.

Coudersport then scored three touchdowns on its first five offensive plays.

The first score came on a 30-yard pass from freshman quarterback Brett Whitman, playing in place of Boomer Wetzel - Wetzel did see some action -, to Josh Corey giving the Falcons an early 8-0 lead.

On the first play of Coudersport’s next possession, Babcock broke off a 60-yard scoring run making it 16-0.

Minutes later, Decker exploded up the middle for an 87-yard touchdown jaunt and a 22-0 lead.

Kane finally got on the board following a botched punt attempt by Coudersport scoring on a 1-yard plunge by quarterback Zach Anderson.

Coudersport, though, responded with a 95-yard run that Babcock capped with a 9-yard scoring run to make it 28-8 at halftime.

The Falcons then opened the second half with an 81-yard drive that ended on a 22-yard run by Whitman.

Kyle Oakes scored on a 66-yard touchdown run to cut the lead to 36-14, but Babcock answered with a 32-yard scoring sprint two minutes into the fourth quarter.

Oakes finished with 11 carries for 112 yards and the score to lead Kane. Anderson was 12 of 26 passing for 125 yards and two interceptions.
