BRADFORD – Ben Walter’s 69-yard pass to E.J. Moore with 2:38 left in the game gave Bradford a 28-21 D9 League win over St. Marys Friday night in Bradford. The scoring pass capped a wild fourth quarter that saw both teams score two touchdowns each in the quarter. Moments before Walter’s pass to Moore, St. Marys had tied the game on a 74-yard scoring pass from Lucas Wendel to Brad Steinback with 2:57 to play. Bradford (2-3 overall, 2-1 D9 League) led 14-7 entering the fourth quarter before St. Marys tied the game on a 12-yard Brian Tamburlin run with 8:52 left in the game. The Owls answered with a trick play and a long bomb to take the lead 21-14 on a 55-yard pass from Walter to Nick Foster. The touchdown was set up by a fake punt the play before on fourth-and-11 from the Bradford 31. Upback Taylor O’Brien took the snap and scampered 3 yards for the first down. St. Marys (2-3, 1-2) led 7-0 at halftime scoring on a 13-yard run by Adam Cornelio late in the half. The Dutch had earlier wasted a 10-minute first-quarter drive that resulted in zero points. Bradford tied the game with a drive at the start of the second half that consumed 7:36 off the clock. Garret McEwen capped the drive with a 2-yard run. Steve Butler, the Owls kicker, than made a touchdown saving tackle on Brad Steinback on the ensuing kickoff that turned out big when Bradford blocked a 33-yard field goal attempt by Josh Renwick. McEwen scooped up the Blocks and returned it 75 yards the other way for a 14-7 Owls lead. BRADFORD 28, ST.
