It was the Rams (1-1 overall, 1-1 AML South) second straight win over Ridgway (0-2, 0-2) and cut the Elkers all-time series lead to 48-45-8 in the 101st meeting between the teams. It was the most points J-Burg has scored against Ridgway since a 45-0 win in 1989 and the sixth most all-time.

The 43 points were the most for Johnsonburg since they beat Otto-Eldred 53-0 Oct. 10, 1997. It also marked the first time Johnsonburg has scored at least 30 points since a 35-12 win over Port Allegany Aug. 31, 2001.

Ridgway led 6-0 following a 38-yard fumble recovery for a touchdown by Nate Williams when Grumley took over.

It is also the 14th consecutive regular-season win for Curwensville, which last lost a regular-season game Oct. 10, 2003, to Ridgway 37-36 – in fact each of Curwensville’s last two regular-season loses, which came in back-to-back weeks in 2003 came by 1 point.

Curwensville led 22-0 at halftime and 30-8 at the end of three quarters before Brockway won the fourth quarter 14-8.

Philip Solley added 67 yards rushing and a touchdown for Curwensville.

Ben Donlin had 19 carries for 115 yards and two touchdowns to lead Brockway.

The first half belonged to Curwensville with the Golden Tide leading 8-0 at the end of the first quarter thanks to an 8-yard run by Sipes.

A 14-yard run by Solley early in the second quarter made it 14-0, and then Sipes scored on a 10-yard run with just 58 seconds left in the half to make it 22-0.

Donlin got Brockway on the board early in the second half on a 5-yard run following a Curwensville turnover on the opening second-half kickoff.

Curwensville answered the score with a 3-yard run by Sipes.

A 15-yard run by Donlin started the fourth quarter scoring, but Sipes answered with a 51-yard scamper. Andy Fremer caught a 43-yard pass from Matt Pentz late in the game to finish Brockway’s scoring.

Curwensville outgained Brockway 280-245 including 255-171 on the ground.
