COUDERSPORT 46, SHEFFIELD 0

SHEFFIELD –Sam Decker ran for 87 yards and three touchdowns on 12 carries and threw a halfback option pass to Logan Hathaway for a fourth score to lead Coudersport to a 46-0 win over Sheffield Saturday afternoon in Sheffield.

Coudersport’s defense, led by Kody Frederick (4.5 sacks, 2 forced fumbles, 2 fumbles recovered), recorded seven sacks of Sheffield quarterback Jordan Copley while also hurrying Copley six more times. The Falcons also came up with four interceptions (one off the arm of Copley and three off the arm of Eric Blum) and held Copley, the third leading passer in D9 coming into the game, to an unofficial 3 of 15 for 58 yards and one interception.

Kirk Duffee scored a defensive touchdown for Coudersport on a 10-yard interception return, and Brian Wetzel threw a 12-yard scoring toss to Chris Cavallari for the other Falcon scores.

Coudersport played without District 9’s leading rusher David Babcock (680 yards), who is expected to play next week.

PORT ALLEGANY 34, CAMERON COUNTY 7

PORT ALLEGANY – Cody Anderson ran 22 times for 185 yards and three touchdowns to lead Port Allegany (4-1 overall, 4-1 AML North) to a 34-7 win over visiting Cameron County (1-4, 1-4) Saturday afternoon.

Anderson scored on runs of 3, 4 and 83 yards for the Gators, who also got touchdown runs from Bobby Nichols (44 yards) and Willie Bova (5 yards) while building a 34-0 lead in the fourth quarter.

Cameron County’s lone score came on a 4-yard run by Taylor Songer.

Nichols finished the day with 14 carries for 114 yard and one touchdown while catching two passes for 41 yards. Anderson added one catch for three yards, and R.J. Shively had one for 36. 

Bova was 6 of 12 passing for 103 yards and a touchdown while also running for two yards and a score.

BROCKWAY 12, JOHNSONBURG 6, OVERTIME

JOHNSONBURG – Ben Donlin’s 10-yard run in overtime lifted Brockway to a hard-fought 12-6 win over Johnsonburg Friday night in Johnsonburg.

The Rovers (3-2 overall, 3-2 AML South) led 7-0 at halftime thanks to a 1-yard Adam Burkett run late in the second quarter, but Johnsonburg tied the game on a 30-yard pass from Anthony Imbrogno to Judd Zilcosky with 9:49 left in the game.

Johnsonburg (3-2, 3-2) was playing without leading rusher and do-everything man Calvin Grumley, who missed the game with an injury.

Donlin led all rushers with 17 carries for 64 yards, while Josh Feronti led J-burg with 12 carries for 56 yards.

Anthony Varischetti was 5 of 9 passing for 60 yards and an interception for the Rovers, while Imbrogno was 5 of 15 for 53 yards, one touchdown and three interceptions. He also ran eight times for 17 yards.

Donlin added two catches for 20 yards for Brockway, and Varischetti had two interceptions.

ELK COUNTY CATHOLIC 37, RIDGWAY 22

RIDGWAY – Elk County Catholic raced out to a 30-8 lead on its way to a 37-22 win over Ridgway Friday night in Ridgway.

Anthony Mastrogiacomo ran 12 times for 159 yards and one touchdown while catching one pass for 10 yards and a score to lead the Crusaders (4-1 overall, 4-1 AML South). He scored on a 10-yard pass from Kyle Mahoney in the first quarter and on an 85-yard run in the second frame.

Mahoney, who was 5-for-10 for 62 yards and an interception, also tossed a 32-yard pass to Kevin Genevro while running for a 1-yard touchdown. He added seven carries for 36 yards,

Alex Lecker’s 3-yard run closed out the scoring for ECC. Lecker ran 13 times for 72 yards.

Ridgway got touchdowns from Jake Havens (2-yard run), A.J. Hansen (17-yard pass from Nick Dickant) and a Dickant (2-yard run).

ECC outgained the Elkers 438-155 including 376-108 on the ground.

Adam Handley led Ridgway with 11 carries for 62 yards, while Dickant was 5 of 13 passing for 47 yards and an interception.

CLEARFIELD 28, LEWISTOWN 7

CLEARFIELD – Shane Davis only ran the ball seven times for 37 yards, but he scored three touchdowns to lead Clearfield to a 28-7 win over visiting Lewistown Friday night in Clearfield.

The Bisons (4-1) scored a touchdown in each of the four quarters including the final three scores of the game.

Davis started the scoring with a 1-yard run in the first quarter before scoring on a 2-yard run in the second quarter. Then in the third quarter he rolled off a 23-yard scoring jaunt to give Clearfield a 21-7 lead.

Lucas Aughenbaugh closed out the scoring for the Bisons with a 1-yard run.

Aughenbaugh finished the night with 27 carries for 188 yards and the touchdown and caught one pass for eight yards, while Andrew Janocko was 8 of 14 passing for 61 yards.

CURWENSVILLE 68, KANE 12

KANE – Nick Sipes ran 17 times for 131 yards and three touchdowns, while Shawn Sopic added two touchdowns while also throwing a score, as Curwensville routed Kane 68-12 Friday night in Kane.

Sipes scored on runs of 5, 8 and 11 yards, while Sopic scored on a 33-yard run and a 38-yard interception return while tossing a 24-yard scoring strike to Bart McGarry.

Kyle Oakes led Kane with 16 carries for 149 yards and one touchdown, while Zach Anderson was 13 of 21 passing for 149 yards and two interceptions while running for a touchdown. John Bizzak had eight catches for 106 yards.

HUNTINGDON 41, PUNXSUTAWNEY 7

HUNTINGDON – Bucky Culbertson ran 17 times for 154 yards and three touchdowns to lead Huntingdon to a 41-7 win over Punxsutawney in a MAC-7 Divisions game Friday night in Huntingdon.

Culbertson scored on runs of 12, 16 and 43 yards for the Bearcats, who led 21-0 at halftime.

Huntingdon also got a touchdown pass from Kyle Kyper to Kevin Cressman, a 27-yard run by Tim Rohrer and a 25-yard pass from Nick Long to Andrew Young.

Punxsutawney’s lone touchdown came following a Chad McHenry block of a Huntingdon punt that gave the Chucks (0-5) the ball at the Bearcat 18. From there, Zach Smith hit Jeremy Falgout with an 18-yard touchdown pass.

Punxsutawney was limited to just 159 yards of offense including only 41 on the ground.

Smith was 8 of 15 passing for 118 yards, 1 touchdown and two interceptions. Austin Furman ran for 15 yards and had 24 yards receiving, while Mike Smiley caught two passes for 42 yards. Falgout had five catches for 52 yards and ran once for 15.

Kyper was 9 of 11 passing for 118 yards and one touchdown.

MONITEAU 31, KEYSTONE 0

KNOX – Matt Schandelmeier ran 22 times for 156 yards and two touchdowns, and Adam Cousins added 19 carries for 129 yards and a touchdown while also kicking a field goal to lead Moniteau to a 31-0 win at Knox Friday night.

Schandelmeier scored on runs of 15 and five yards, while Cousins scored on a 1-yard run and kicked a 31-yard field goal, as Moniteau (3-2 overall, 3-1 KSAC) ran 55 times for 343 yards on the night.

The Warriors also a 22-yard touchdown pass from Garth Kohlmeyer to Ryan Protzman

Kohlmeyer was 3 of 6 passing for 48 yards, 1 touchdowns and 1 interception. Cousins added one catch for 19 yards. 

Keystone (1-4 overall, 1-4 KSAC) managed just 84 total yards on the night.

Mike Switzer was 3 of 9 passing for 31 yards, while Justin Bifano was 2 of 8 for 2 yards. Derek Swartfager ran 16 times for 47 yards, while Kyle McMunn had three catches for 32 yards. 

CLARION-LIMESTONE 7, BROOKVILLE 6

BROOKVILLE – Clarion-Limestone found a way to win again stopping a Brookville 2-point conversion with nine seconds left to get a 7-6 non-conference victory Friday night in Brookville.

The game was scoreless until the fourth quarter when C-L’s Scott Davis hit Andy Wilson with a 46-yard touchdown pass that coupled with Davis’ extra point gave the Lions (5-0 and winners of 39 of their past 40 regular season games) a 7-0 lead. A fumble recovery by Sheldon Champion of a botched handoff exchange set up the score.

Brookville (1-4) came back with an 8-yard touchdown pass from Korey Brownlee to Tyler Ross with just nine seconds to play. Ross appeared to catch the ball out of bounds, but the officials ruled that he was pushed out as he caught the ball resulting in a touchdown.

The Raiders then lined up to kick the extra point, but called for the fake instead. The pass, though, was incomplete giving C-L the win.

The Lions have now won three games this season that have come down to the wire having also beaten Moniteau 8-7 in Week One, Karns City 24-16 in overtime in Week Three.

Davis was 15 of 28 passing for 187 yards, 1 touchdown and 1 interception while running 23 times for 56 yards.

David Brooks had four catches for 46 yards, while Neil Reynolds had 20 tackles.

Brownlee was 4 of 8 passing for 48 yards, 1 touchdown and one interception. Silas Wonderling ran 11 times for 49 yards, while Ross had three catches for 40 yards.  

KARNS CITY 29, REDBANK VALLEY 25

NEW BETHLEHEM – Karns City built a 29-12 third-quarter lead over Redbank Valley before having to hang on for a 29-25 win in KSAC action Friday night at Redbank Valley.

Redbank Valley (2-3 overall, 2-2 KSAC), which has lost three straight, led 12-9 at the end of the first quarter before Karns City (3-2, 2-1) built a 23-12 halftime lead.

Stephen Black had a nice night for the Gremlins throwing for two touchdowns, while Matt Stimac ran for a touchdown and caught a scoring pass.

Redbank Valley’s first quarter points came on an 81-yard kickoff return by Skyler Smith and a 60-yard run by Nick Magagnotti, while Karns City had a 32-yard Matt McConnell field goal and a 32-yard scoring toss from Black to Stimac.

A 15-yard pass from Black to Justin Macurak gave Karns City a 16-12 lead in the second quarter, and a 5-yard halfback pass from Wayne Harris to Chad Bell made it 23-12 at halftime.

Stimac appeared to put the game away with a 2-yard run in the third quarter, but Redbank Valley came back with a 5-yard run by Smith in the third quarter and a 14-yard pass from Brandon Doverspike to Nick Johnston early in the fourth quarter.

Doverspike was 5 of 9 passing for 92 yards, one touchdown and one interception, while Smith ran 22 times for 47 yards. Nick Johnston had four catches for 77 yards and the touchdown.

Black was 5 of 12 passing for 84 yards and two touchdowns while running 15 times for 73 yards. Stimac added 12 carries for 60 yards and a score and one catch for 33 yards and a touchdown.
