NOTE – The information provided in this story is unofficial. The District 9 Committee will be releasing the official seedings including game dates, times and location early in the week.

CLARION – The probable seedings for the Class A, Class AA and Class AAA District 9 playoffs are basically set after Friday night’s games.

In the eight-team Class A bracket, the winner of Saturday’s AML Title game between Coudersport (8-0) and Curwensville will be the No. 1 seed. Clarion (7-2) is the No. 2 seed, Clarion-Limestone (8-1) is the No. 3 seed, the loser of the AML Title game is the No. 4 seed, Port Allegany (7-2) is the No. 5 seed, Johnsonburg (6-3) is the No. 6 seed, Elk County Catholic (5-4) is the No. 7 seed and Kane (5-4) is the No. 8 seed.

Clarion gets the No. 2 seed as the top Class A team from the KSAC (the top teams from the KSAC and AML are guaranteed one of the top two seeds) despite having one more loss than C-L. The Bobcats and Lions both finished at 6-1 in the KSAC with Clarion holding the tiebreaker thanks to a 41-6 win over the Lions. Only KSAC games are used in determining the KSAC’s No. 1 Class A team.

ECC gets the No. 7 seed over Kane because the Crusaders beat the Wolves 33-14 in Week 2.

The first-round match-ups with times and dates to be announced will be Kane at either Coudersport or Curwensville, ECC at Clarion, Johnsonburg at C-L and Port Allegany at either Coudersport or Curwensville.

In Class AA, it is believed five teams are entering the postseason.

Karns City (7-2) is the top seed, Brockway (6-3) is the No. 2 seed, Redbank Valley (5-4) is the No. 3 seed, Brookville (4-5) is the No. 4 seed and Moniteau (4-5) is the No. 5 seed.

Brookville gets the No. 4 seed over Moniteau because the Raiders have more District 9 Power Points than the Warriors.

Moniteau will travel to Brookville for a "pig tail" game next week with the winner traveling to Karns City in two weeks. Also in two weeks, Brockway will host Redbank Valley.

In Class AAA, only two teams are in the postseason.

St. Marys (5-4) is the top seed and Clearfield (5-4) is the No. 2 seed. The Dutch got the top seed thanks to a 40-22 win over the Bisons last week. The two will meet in the D9 Championship game either Nov. 11 or 12 at a site and time to be announced. It is St. Marys first-ever trip to the D9 playoffs, and the Dutch have secured their first winning regular season since 1986.

In Class AAAA, DuBois is the lone District 9 team. The Beavers will play the winner of the Erie Cathedral Prep-Erie McDowell District 10 championship game in two weeks in a sub-region game at a site and time to be determined.

The Class A, Class AA and Class AAA champions of District 9 all gain PIAA playoff berths.

The District 9 playoff brackets should be released early in the week, most likely Monday. They will be posted on D9Sports.com when they are released.
