SHIPPENVILLE – Bradford’s Taylor O’Brien is the first D9Sports.com District 9 Football Player of the Week for
the 2006 season.
O’Brien had a solid game on both sides of the ball while helping the Owls to a season-opening 56-35 win at rival Clearfield, the two-time defending District 9 Class AAA Champions. He had eight carries for 124 yards (15.5 yards per carry) and three touchdowns on offense while recording six tackles including a sack on defense. O’Brien had strong competition this week from three players including Coudersport’s Chris Cavallari (150 yards rushing, 2 touchdowns), Johnsonburg’s Calvin Grumley (106 yards rushing, 2 touchdowns, 77 yards passing, 1 field goal) and Ridgway’s Jerico Weitzel (127 yards rushing, 2 touchdowns; 55 yards receiving, 1 touchdown). Cavallari, Grumley and Weitzel join 13 additional players in making up the District 9 Honor Roll this week. The honor roll recipients are listed below in alphabetical order by school.
