SHIPPENVILLE – Clearfield’s Adam Jury is the D9Sports.com District 9 Football Player of the Week for Week Two of the 2006 season.

Jury had a huge week in Clearfield’s come-from-behind 39-35 D9 League win at Brookville Friday night. He caught nine passes for 130 yards, had one carry for six yards and was 1-for-1 passing for 60 yards and a touchdowns. He added a fumble recovery on defense.

Strong competition for the Player of the Week award came from Karns City’s Matt McConnell (2 field goals, game winner in overtime), Punxsutawney’s Mike Smiley (169 yards rushing, 29 yards receiving, 2 touchdowns) and Coudersport’s Chris Cavallari (227 yards rushing, 4 touchdowns).

McConnell, Smiley and Cavallari join 13 additional players in making up the District 9 Honor Roll this week. The honor roll recipients are listed below in alphabetical order by school.

Britt Bookhamer – Bradford: 10 tackles, 3 sacks; Helped Owls win 500th game – Bradford 38, Olean (NY) 0.

James Conway – DuBois: 15 carries, 126 yards, 2 touchdowns; 7-for-14 passing, 96 yards, 1 interception – Punxsutawney 21, DuBois 20.

Cash Grimone – Cameron County: 9 carries, 152 yards, 3 touchdowns – Cameron County 51, Smethport 7.

Harry Cooper – Clarion-Limestone: 17 carries, 115 yards, 1 touchdown – C-L 14, A-C Valley 6.

Isiah Morgan – Clearfield: 19 carries, 82 yards, 4 touchdowns; Scored game-winning touchdown with 4:23 left in the game – Clearfield 39, Brookville 35.

Chris Cavallari – Coudersport: 22 carries, 227 yards, 4 touchdowns – Coudersport 62, Otto-Eldred 12.

Nick Sipes – Curwensville: 26 carries, 120 yards, 2 touchdowns – Curwensville 14, Elk County Catholic 12.

Calvin Grumley – Johnsonburg: 8-for-17 passing, 196 yards, 2 touchdowns, 3 interceptions; 3 carries, 17 yards 1 touchdown; 3 interception and a sack on defense – Johnsonburg 25, Kane 6.

Matt McConnell – Karns City: 2 field goals (24 & 35) including 35-yard field goal in overtime to cap Gremlin comeback from 25-7 deficit. Was also 2-for-2 in extra points – Karns City 28, Hickory 25, overtime.

Derek Swartfager – Keystone: 21 carries, 71 yards, 1 touchdown; 2 catches, 6 yards; 2 fumble recoveries on defense – Keystone 14, Clarion 7.

Derick Morey – Port Allegany: 6-for-9 passing, 104 yards, 3 touchdowns – Port Allegany 41, Sheffield 22.

Nick Nichols – Port Allegany: 15 carries, 118 yards, 1 touchdown; 2 catches, 14 yards, 1 touchdown; 1 sack on defense – Port Allegany 41, Sheffield 22.
