SHIPPENVILLE – Clarion’s Brad Rapp and Clearfield’s Andrew Janocko are the D9Sports.com District 9 Football
Co-Players of the Week for Week Three of the 2006 season.
Both players had monster games while helping their respective teams to key Week Two victories. Rapp did his damage on the ground running 25 times for a career-high 219 yards and two touchdowns while also catching one pass for 11 yards in Clarion’s 15-6 win at St. Marys Friday night. Janocko’s damage came with both his arm and his legs. He was 20 of 28 passing for 276 yards while also running for three touchdowns despite finishing with negative 15 yards rushing because of sacks. He was at his best when it counted the most leading Clearfield on a game-winning drive late in the contest that saw him go 7-for-9 for 65 yards on the drive. The Bisons beat Indian Valley 38-35. Rapp and Janocko weren’t the only players who were in consideration for Player of the Week. Curwensville’s Nick Sipes (247 yards rushing, 2 TD’s; moved into 3rd place all-time in D9 in rushing), Johnsonburg’s Calvin Grumley (178 yards passing, 2 TDs; 71 yards rushing, 3 TDs) and Redbank Valley’s Jake Smith (121 yards passing, 2 TDs; 99 yards rushing, 2 TDs) also had outstanding weeks. Sipes, Grumley and Smith join 13 additional players in making up the District 9 Honor Roll this week. The honor roll recipients are listed below in alphabetical order by school. D9Sports.Com is an entirely volunteer web site in its seventh year of covering athletics within the PIAA’s District 9 located at www.d9sports.com. The site is not affiliated with the PIAA in any way. The awards, which are given from Week One through Week 10, are the only weekly awards given out in the District that represent the district as a whole. Honor roll members are listed alphabetically by school. NOTES – Janocko is the second straight Clearfield player to earn Player of the Week honors … Wide receiver Adam Jury was Player of the Week last week … Rapp is the first Clarion player to earn Player of the Week honors since Chris McSwain was Player of the Week in Week 7 of 2005 … With two Players of the Week this year, Clearfield becomes the first school to reach double digits in Players of the Week since the award started in 2000. The Bisons have had 10 Players of the Week. Clarion is second on the list with eight Players of the Week now.
