SHIPPENVILLE – Brookville offensive lineman/defensive lineman Eli Morres is the D9Sports.com District 9 Football
Player of the Week for Week Six of the 2006 season.
The 6-6, 275-pound Morres played a big role in Brookville’s 39-21 D9 League win at Bradford Friday night anchoring an offensive line that allowed the Raiders to run for 440 yards and five touchdowns on the night. He also had a solid game on defense coming up with four tackles, all for losses, while constantly being in the Bradford backfield disrupting the Owls running lanes and making the quarterback scramble on passes. Morres is the second offensive/defensive lineman to earn Player of the Week in the seven years it has been awarded. Bradford’s Brent Raabe was the first in 2003. Competition for Morres for the honor came from teammate Max Kutz who ran 19 times for 212 yards and two touchdowns as well as Curwensville’s Nick Sipes (142 yards rushing, 4 touchdowns) and Karns City’s Justin Switzer (17 tackles) and Cameron Turner (9 tackles, 3 sacks). Morres is the second Brookville player to be honored with the award this season joining Kutz, who earned the honor in Week Four. Kutz, Sipes, Switzer and Turner join 12 additional players in making up the District 9 Honor Roll this week. The honor roll recipients are listed below in alphabetical order by school. D9Sports.Com is an entirely volunteer web site in its seventh year of covering athletics within the PIAA’s District 9 located at www.d9sports.com. The site is not affiliated with the PIAA in any way.
