GRUMLEY NAMED D9SPORTS.COM DISTRICT 9 FOOTBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK FOR WEEK EIGHT 2006

SHIPPENVILLE – Johnsonburg quarterback Calvin Grumley is the D9Sports.com District 9 Football Player of the Week for Week Eight of the 2006 season.

Grumley was nearly a one-man show in the Rams 36-0 win over Elk County Catholic Friday night. He ran 15 times for 136 yards and two touchdowns, while going 10-for-21 passing for 127 yards, a touchdown and an interception. He also kicked four extra points in a game that clinched a playoff berth for Johnsonburg.

Grumley is the first Johnsonburg player to earn Player of the Week honors. The award has been given out since the 2000 season.

Bradford’s Taylor O’Brien (197 yards rushing, 2 touchdowns), Brookville’s Max Kutz (101 yards rushing, 2 touchdowns; 46 yards passing, 1 touchdown), Coudersport’s Chris Cavallari (140 yards rushing, 2 touchdowns) and Curwensville’s Nick Sipes (138 yards rushing, 2 touchdowns) provided Grumley with competition for the award.

O’Brien, Kutz, Cavallari and Sipes join 12 additional players in making up the District 9 Honor Roll this week. The honor roll recipients are listed below in alphabetical order by school.
