PIAA Class AA Playoffs - First Round at Offutt Field in Greensburg

By Mike Caranhan – Jeffersonian-Democrat Sports Editor

GREENSBURG - Quarterback Terrelle Pryor had 172 yards of total offense while teammates Jordan Hall and Jerry Harris each rushed for over 100 yards in Jeannette's 32-7 win over the Brookville Raiders in the PIAA Class AA Western Semifinals Friday at Offutt Field in Greensburg.

Pryor, who accounted for 322 of the Jayhawks 361 totals yards in their win over Greensburg Central Catholic in the WPIAL title game a week ago, rushed for 95 yards on 11 carries and a score Friday. He also passed for 36 more in the gusty wind and caught a 41-yard touchdown pass from Shaw Sunder with no time left on the clock to give Jeannette a 19-0 halftime lead.

Hall was the Jayhawks leading rushing Friday with 118 yards on 16 attempts, including a 24-yard touchdown run in the second quarter and a 22-yarder in the third.

Harris added 106 yards on 11 carries, including a 3-yard score in the fourth quarter for Jeannette's final touchdown.

In all, the Jayhawks (13-1) rolled up 347 yards on the ground and 13 of their 14 first downs.

On defense, Jeannette held the Raiders to a season low 193 yards.

Brookville had just 25 yards total and one first down in the first half.

The Raiders finally showed some life in the second half, but it was too late.

Brookville drove to the Jayhawks 3-yard line on seven plays late in the
third quarter, but the drive eventually stalled and ended when Jason Marquis snuffed out a draw by Max Kutz on fourth-and-goal on the first play of the fourth quarter.

The Raiders got their only touchdown with 3:44 left in the game on an 11-yard run by Jacob Means.

Joe Galbraith led Brookville with 85 yards on 13 carries. He also picked off a Pryor pass.

Quarterback Shane Heschke ran for 44 more but was just 1 of 7 passing for 12 yards.

Pryor struck first for the Jayhawks, capping off a 15-play, 80-yard drive with a 1-yard leap on their opening possession. Jeannette then went up 13-0 when Hall broke a tackle at the line and ended up scoring from 24 yards out midway through the second.

It appeared that would be the halftime score but Sunder, who came in at quarterback for the series while Pryor moved to receiver, hooked up with Pryor over the middle at the 25. Pryor did the rest, out-running the Raiders' defense into the end zone.

Hall scored on a 22-yard run in the third quarter while Harris finished off an
11-play, 96-yard match with the 3-yard run around left end in the fourth.

The Raiders finished the year 11-2, setting a school record for wins.
