BONAVITA RECOMMENDED TO WARREN CO. SCHOOL BOARD AS NEXT SHEFFIELD FOOTBALL COACH

WARREN Sheffield could have a new football coach as soon as the Feb. 12 meeting of the Warren County School Board.

According to the Jan. 31 Warren Times-Observer, the board’s Athletics and Extra-Curricular Activities Committee Tuesday forwarded John Bonavita as the new head football coach replacing Scott Park, who resigned at the conclusion of last season. The recommendation could be voted on at the full board meeting Feb. 12.

Bonavita coached the Wolverines from 1997-2001 when Sheffield was a member of District 10 but playing the Allegheny Mountain League. His record during that tenure was 19-27.

Sheffield was 1-8 this past season and 1-18 over the past two campaigns. Park coached the Wolverines for five years and compiled a 10-37 record during that time span. Sheffield had been in a cooperative agreement with Abraxas, a reform school in Marienville, until this past season.
