SHIPPENVILLE – Joe Galbraith of Brookville and Eric Mastrogiacomo of Elk County Catholic are the co-D9Sports.com District 9 Football Players of the Week for Week Two of the 2007 season after they each rushed for over 250 yards during the week.

Galbraith carried 24 times for 266 yards and three touchdowns in Brookville’s 35-28 win at Clearfield Friday night. Two of his scores came in the fourth quarter after the teams entered the quarter tied at 21 including the go-ahead touchdown in the early minutes of the quarter and the eventual game winner with just over two minutes left that staked the Raiders to a 14-point lead at the time.

Mastrogiacomo, meanwhile, had a night to remember in ECC’s 53-20 win at Curwensville. He ran the ball 19 times for 294 yards and five touchdown, returned an interception 31 yards for a sixth score and caught one pass for 13 yards while helping the Crusaders to their most points in a game in 30 years.

Galbraith is the fourth Brookville player to earn Player of the Week honors in the history of the award (since 2000) and the first since Eli Morres won it in Week Six last season. Mastrogiacomo, meanwhile, is the third ECC player to garner the award and the first since Kevin Genevro in Week 3 of 2005. Together they are the 74th and 75th D9Sports.com District 9 Players of the Week named in the eighth year of the award.

The performances of Galbraith and Mastrogiacomo were the only outstanding ones this week, as 14 additional players and the Karns City offensive line make up the District 9 Honor Roll. The honor roll recipients are listed below in alphabetical order by school.
