BRADFORD'S JOHNSON NAMED WEEK SIX  D9SPORTS.COM DISTRICT 9 PLAYER OF THE WEEK

SHIPPENVILLE – Bradford’s Nick Johnson is the D9Sports.com District 9 Football Player of the Week for Week Six of the 2007 season after leading the Owls to a 35-24 win over Brookville Friday night that clinched the D9 League title for Bradford.

Johnson scored three touchdowns three different ways while also running for over 100 yards and playing a great game on defense. He scored touchdowns rushing, on an 82-yard kickoff return and on an 84-yard punt return while rushing 17 times for 101 yards and catching one pass for 13 yards. He also made 15 tackles on defense and had one pass breakup.

It is the third time a Bradford players as earned Player of the Week honors in the eight years of the award and the first since Johnson’s current teammate Taylor O’Brien was Player of the Week in Week One last season.

Johnson got strong competition this week from Redbank Valley’s Jake Smith (232 yards passing, 1 TD, 28 yards rushing, 1 TD), Smethport’s Preston Birtcil (13 tackles, 2 interception, 63 yards rushing, 43 yards receiving, 2 touchdowns) and Union’s Matt Gagliano (214 yards passing, 1 touchdown, 1 TD rushing)

Smith, Birtcil and Gagliano join 12 additional players on the District 9 Honor Roll this week. The honor roll recipients are listed below.
