QUESTION & ANSWER
Q: St. Marys has guaranteed itself an above .500 finish  (playoffs included) for the first time since 1986. How important is it to you and your teammates to be part of Dutch history?
A: The entire team wants this accomplishment. We wanted to be a part of something that hasn’t been done in a long time and be a part of our school history.

Q: Things started turning around for St. Marys two seasons ago when you finished 5-4 in the regular season before losing to Clearfield in the District 9 Class AAA title game 21-18. Then last season was a down year, but unlike in the past this year’s team has responded with another solid campaign. In your opinion, what was the biggest factor in you guys not allowing last year’s down season to get in the way of building the program to a higher level?
A: Our team knew we had to dedicate a lot of time and hard work in order to accomplish something big. The team began training in the offseason. I believe this made us stronger as individuals but even stronger as a team. That is what we are all about being and working as a team. There is a large group of us that have been playing together since our youth and we are like family.

Q: You have three backs – yourself, Brian Tamburlin and Jeremy Williams – that have all played important roles to this year’s success. How important has it been to have three backs who all can beat another team?
A: I believe this helps each of us out and gives our offense more options. We have all learned from each other and helped each other a number of times. We all want each other to do well. Our backs are good because of the efforts of our line. It takes all 11 players to win the battle on the field.

Q: You have had a tough non-conference schedule this season with top teams Karns City and Clearfield as well as games with Moniteau and Clarion. How do you think that non-conference schedule has prepared you for the playoffs?
A: They are all teams that know how to win. They don’t give up and this helped us not to give up and play our best until the game is over. Playing these teams made us a better overall team. They showed us what it takes to win.

Q: What are your plans after high school?
A: I plan to attend college and major in Business management. Given the chance I would like to play college football.
