CLEARFIELD – Joe Galbraith scored two fourth quarter touchdowns to help Brookville break a 21-all tie and get a 35-28 win over homestanding Clearfield Friday night in non-conference action.

The game was tied at 21 at halftime and remained tied until the opening minutes of the fourth quarter when Galbraith, who ran for 266 yards and three touchdowns on 24 carries, scored on a 4-yard run with 10:09 left in the game. Shane Heschke’s 2-point conversion run gave the Raiders (1-1) a 29-21 lead.

Galbraith then appeared to seal the game with a 14-yard scoring run with 2:26 left making it 35-21, but Clearfield’s Jarrin Campman hit Drew Hipps with a 63-yard pass with 45 seconds left to set the final score.

Campman had a big night for the Bisons (1-1) going 13 of 20 passing for 233 yards and two touchdowns, while running 19 times for a team-high 86 yards and two scores. He also intercepted a pass on defense.

But Campman’s counterpart Heschke out did him on the ground running 15 times for 120 yards and a touchdown while also going 5-for-9 passing for 61 yards, a touchdown and an interception. He also caught one pass for 16 yards helping Brookville roll up 477 yards of total offense on the night including 400 on the ground.

The Raiders struck first on a 58-yard run by Galbraith in the first quarter, but Clearfield took a 14-7 lead at the end of the quarter thanks to scoring runs of 19 and 4 yards by Campman.

Brookville tied the game at 14 on a 29-yard run by Heschke with 4:31 left in the first half that set off a scoring frenzy that saw the two teams combined to score 21 points in a span of 3:20.

Clearfield retook the lead at 21-14 on a 77-yard strike from Campman to Hipps at the 3:02 mark, but Brookville answered right back with a 10-yard touchdown pass from Heschke to Hank Truman with 1:11 left in the half to forge the 21-all tie at the break.

Hipps had a huge night for Clearfield with six catches for 187 yards and the two touchdowns, but Isiah Morgan was limited to 43 yards rushing on negative three receiving by a Brookville defense that yielded 372 yards on the night.

The win was Brookville’s first over Clearfield since a 14-12 win at Clearfield in 2003.
