EMPORIUM – Abram Zoschg scored two touchdowns and Jordan Crane ran for a touchdown and passed for a score to lead Cameron County to a 28-0 win over Keystone in the opening round of the District 9 Class A Playoffs Saturday night in Emporium.

Zoschg scored bookend touchdowns for the Red Raiders (10-1). He opened the scoring with a 65-yard touchdown run four minutes into the game helping Cameron take a 20-0 halftime lead. He then returned a Dan Reed interception 30 yards for a touchdown in the third quarter to seal the win.

After Zoschg scored to open the game, Cameron scored twice in a span of 12 seconds early in the second quarter to open up the 20-0 lead.

First, Crane hit pay dirt on 13-yard run at the 9:40 mark. The Red Raiders then recovered an on-side kick, and on the first play from scrimmage after it Crane hit Sean McManigle with a 40-yard scoring toss. Crane then hooked up with Mike Malize for the 2-point conversion making it 20-0.

Keystone twice had the ball in Cameron County territory in the first half, once following a fumble, with the drive starting at the Cameron County 30, and another following a short punt, starting the drive at the Red Raider 40, but could not capitalize on either possession. The Panthers were held to just one first down in the first half, and six yards of offense in the first two quarters.

Zoschg finished with 171 yards on 14 carries. For the game, the Red Raiders tallied 272 yards on the ground. Crane threw for 90 yards on 6-of-16 accuracy, completing six of his first eight passes. McManigle led all receivers with 68 yards on three catches. Defensively, the Red Raiders held Keystone to 84 yards of offense including negative seven rushing, sacking quarterback Dan Reed five times.

Derek Swartfager ran for 28 yards on 10 carries for the Panthers. Reed finished 7-of-28 passing, 84 yards, and two interceptions, with most of the yards coming from a second half 45 yard strike to Mike Switzer. Brett Zuck had five grabs for 24 yards.

Cameron County will travel to Redbank Valley on Saturday, November 18, for a Class A semifinal matchup with the Bulldogs. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m.
