COUDERSPORT – Coudersport scored 28 unanswered second-half points to erase a 15-0 halftime deficit and get a 28-15 win over Port Allegany in the opening round of the District 9 Class A playoffs Saturday night in Coudersport.

Port Allegany (6-4) looked in control of the game after two second-quarter touchdowns gave the Gators  the two- score lead at halftime.

But Coudersport got back into the game early in the third quarter on a 4-yard Dirk Cowburn touchdown run. Cowburn then scored on a 28-yard run with 1:41 left in the third quarter to close the Port lead to a single point, 15-14.

The Falcons then took the lead for good on a 4-yard touchdown run by Colton Corey just under four minutes into the fourth quarter.

Corey then put the game away with an 8-yard scoring run with 1:04 left.

Corey had a huge night for Coudersport running 21 times for a season-high 133 yards and the two touchdowns, as the Falcons, who have struggled to run the ball at times this season, ran for 167 yards and four touchdowns. The four rushing touchdowns tied for the second most on the season for Coudersport.

Port Allegany got on the scoreboard on the first play of the second quarter when Derick Morey scored on a 1-yard run and then scored on the 2-point conversion.
