CLARION – The Karns City Gremlins did something Saturday afternoon that thirteen other teams this season were unable to do... hold the District 7 champion and the state's top-ranked Class AA Jeannette Jayhawks to under 40 points.

Even so, Jayhawk senior quarterback Terrelle Pryor threw for 169 yards and two touchdowns and ran for 101 yards and another score as Jeannette advanced to the PIAA Class AA semifinals with a 35-6 win over Karns City at Clarion University's Memorial Stadium.

Jeannette was held off the scoreboard for much of the first quarter until Jordan Hall scored from 1 yard out with 58 seconds remaining in the opening quarter to give the Jayhawks a 7-0 lead. The score capped off an eight-play, 94 yard scoring drive that was highlighted by a 60 yard strike from Pryor to Greg Williams to set up the Hall score.

The Jayhawks then took advantage of Gremlin turnovers on consecutive drives to start the second quarter to take a 21-0 lead. The first drive of the quarter ended with Anthony Stimac's fumbled snap at midfield. Adam Lock recovered for the Jayhawks, and Pryor converted two plays later on a 37-yard run.

On Karns City's ensuing possession, Ben Pyle fumbled, setting up the Jayhawks in Gremlin territory for a second straight drive. This time, Pryor, faced with a fourth-and-2 from the 5, rolled to his right and found a wide open Dane Vaughn in the back of the endzone. The John Stapf extra point gave Jeannette a 21-0 lead. The 21st point also set a new single season team state scoring record, eclipsing the former mark 755 points in a season.

Pryor added another touchdown toss late in the first half, this time to Jordan Hall from 6 yards out with 22 seconds remaining in the half.

Jeannette would evoke the mercy rule for the thirteenth time this season following a Kenny Grant 14 yard touchdown run midway through the third quarter. Pryor hit hall for the two-point conversion for a 35-0 lead.

Karns City's lone score of the game capped off a six-play, 80 yard drive in the fourth quarter, as Stimac scored on a 44 yard touchdown run. Stimac ran for 61 yards on 12 carries, while throwing for 76 yards on 6-of-13 accuracy and one interception. The Gremlin offense, which ended the game with 214 yards offense, were limited to just 84 yards in the first three quarters.
