CAMERON COUNTY WILL GET FORFEIT WIN AGAINST OTTO-ELDRED THIS WEEK

Terrors hoping to get healthy enough to finish season

EMPORIUM – Otto-Eldred will forfeit Friday’s football game to Cameron County because of a lack of healthy players.

The Terrors, who had only 18 players to start the week, suffered enough injuries in last week’s loss to Johnsonburg that they don’t have enough to field a full team this week. They are hoping to get healthy enough this week to finish the remainder of the season.

Because of the forfeit, Cameron County will move to 5-0 overall and 5-0 in the AML North while Otto-Eldred drops to 1-4 overall, 1-4 AML North.

For Cameron County fans worried about how the forfeit might affect playoff seeding, no worries. It is treated the same as any other win for the Red Raiders in all aspects of the playoff criteria. If Cameron would be involved in the third seeding tie breaker, which is the garner points system, they would receive the maximum 10 possible points for margin of victory – a team can either gain or lose up to 10 points depending on what the final margin of victory/loss is (anything over 10 points is awarded or deducted as just 10 points to keep teams from intentionally running the score up). Cameron County won’t gain any points in the their season points scored total because no game will have been played but their average points per game will be calculated on the number of games they play on the field.

This marks the second straight season a District 9 team has forfeited game(s). Last season, Clarion-Limestone forfeited non-conference contests against North East and Brookville. It is the first time a District 9 team has forfeited a conference game since Clarion-Limestone forfeited to Karns City the last game of the 1999 season.
