SHIPPENVILLE – Karns City senior quarterback/defensive back Anthony Stimac is the RRR Roadhouse D9Sports.com District 9 Football Player of the Week for Week Six of the 2008 season.

Stimac played an instrumental role in the unbeaten Gremlins 23-14 win over previously unbeaten Redbank Valley Friday night. He had 296 total yards of offense while also adding an interception on defense. Doing most of his damage with his legs, Stimac ran 15 times for 207 yards and a touchdown and also added 89 yards passing and a score. His 64-yard touchdown run in the third quarter stopped Redbank Valley’s momentum after the Bulldogs had taken a 14-10 lead on the first offensive play of the second half. He then added another 70-yard run later in the game that set up the game-clinching touchdown.

It is the second time since the award started in 2000 that a Karns City player has won Player of the Week honors. Stimac earned Co-Player of the Week Honors with Clearfield’s Jarrin Campman in Week Seven last season.

In addition to Stimac, 15 District 9 players appear on the RRR Roadhouse D9Sports.com District 9 Honor Roll this week.

The RRR Roadhouse located in the Clarion Mall is in its second year of being the sponsor of the Player of the Week award. More information on the RRR Roadhouse, which also provides catering services for any occasion, can be found at www.rrrroadhouse.com or by calling them at 814-227-2000.
