SHIPPENVILLE Brockway quarterback Derek Buganza is the
D9Sports.com District 9 Football Player of the Week for Week Nine of the 2008 season. Its the second time this season the Rover sophomore has
earned the award. Buganza, who was also the Week One Player of the Week, had
a night to remember in the Rovers 45-27 win over Ridgway Friday night that kept Brockways playoff hopes alive.
He was 30 of 43 passing for 413 yards and six touchdowns while also rushing 16 times for 31 yards. He is the first
District 9 quarterback to throw for over 400 yards since Sept. 28, 2001, when Keystones Adam Black threw for 426
yards and seven touchdowns in a 50-6 win over West Shamokin. Buganza has had a sensational rookie campaign throwing for
2,575 yards and 23 touchdowns on the season. He has an outside shot, it would become more of realistic shot if
Brockway made the playoffs, of passing for over 3,000 yards in a season. Those players are among 15 District 9 player who appear on
