SHIPPENVILLE Keystone wide receiver Ben Black is the
final RRR Roadhouse D9Sport.scom District 9 Football Player of the Week for the 2008 season. Black, who earns the award in Week 10, had an unbelievable
night catching the football in a 63-32 Panther loss at Brockway Friday. He had 18 catches, which is believed to be
a District 9 record and is only four shy of the state record, for 272 yards and four touchdowns. In a game that was full of great performances including
both quarterbacks going over 300 yards and throwing for five touchdowns each, Blacks numbers standout. His 18
catches, if they were all he had caught this season, would stand tied for the 19th most in District 9 on
the year and his 272 yards would be 25th. Black is just the third Keystone player to earn Player of
the Week honors since the award started in 2000 and the first since his older brother Adam won the award in Week
Five of 2001. Adam Black, a record-setting quarterback, also won the award in Week Six of 2000. The Blacks are the second set of brothers to win the award.
Nate and Nick Sipes of Curwensville is the other brother tandem to each garner Player of the Week honors. In addition to Black, 15 District 9 players appear on the
RRR Roadhouse D9Sports.com District 9 Honor Roll this week. D9Sports.Com is in its ninth year of covering athletics
