By Rich Rhoades WEST SUNBURY — The Moniteau Warriors looked like a team focused on the task at hand, winning and playing sharp football. It’s no coincidence that their rock-solid effort against visiting Brookville came one week before their big game against fellow Keystone Shortway Athletic Conference unbeaten Karns City. The Warriors improved to 7-0, racking up 540 yards of offense in a 42-7 rout of the Raiders Friday night. Next week, Moniteau heads to arch-rival Karns City to try to knock off the Gremlins. “They’re focused. They’re ready. Next week’s another team. It’s a purple team. This week was a white (jerseyed) team,” Moniteau head coach Jeff Campbell said. “No matter who it is, we’re going against a team that stands in the way of what we want. The kids know we take one week at a time, one play, one quarter and see what happens.” Moniteau’s offensive barrage was led by quarterback Tyler Armagost, receiver Tony Campbell and running back James Shope. Armagost completed 14 of 23 passes for 259 yards and three touchdowns, all of them to Campbell, who caught eight passes for 194 yards. Armagost’s TD strikes to Campbell went for 25, 35 and 29 yards. Armagost also ran for 75 yards on 11 attempts. “He gets open,” Campbell said of his junior receiver. “He’s a smart receiver and Tyler and him seem to be on the same page. He seems to find seams. They audible into things that are open, they see the field well. It’s a good group of receivers, a good group of running backs. We played a ton of kids here tonight.” Shope ran for 124 yards on 13 carries and scored on runs of 35, 5 and 8 yards. The Warriors limited Brookville (3-4) to 67 yards of offense, including minus-31 yards rushing. Jacob Boy and Nathan Gutery each had two sacks totaling 30 yards in losses. Shope also added an interception. Brookville’s only touchdown came right after Moniteau’s first score of the game when Kyle Galbraith returned the ensuing kickoff 90 yards for a touchdown. That and Moniteau’s 122 yards on 10 penalties were the only stains on an otherwise overwhelming performance. Brookville didn’t gain a first down until its first play from scrimmage in the second half. The Raiders finished with four first downs. Raiders’ free safety Dan Haines intercepted Armagost at the Raiders’ 1 in the first half for his sixth interception of the season. MONITEAU 42, BROOKVILLE 7 Score By Quarters Brookville
