SHIPPENVILLE – Clarion junior quarterback Dan Walters is the first RRR Roadhouse D9Sports.com District 9 Football Player of Week for the 2009 season.

Walters had the seldom-seen hat trick of football scoring on a touchdown run and a touchdown catch while adding two touchdown passes in his first game back since tearing his ACL in the fourth week of last season. In helping Clarion roll past defending KSAC Champion Moniteau 46-14, he completed 5 of 9 passes for 175 yards and two touchdowns, ran for a touchdown and also caught two passes for 39 yards and a score. On defense, he turned in the game-turning play late in the first half stripping the ball from a Moniteau receiver along the sideline and picking the fumble up off a bounce and returning it to the 2-yard line.

Facing stiff competition from Bradford’s Pat Pascarella and Brockway’s Derek Buganza, Walters got the nod from the selection committee based on the nature of the victory and his all-around game.

Pascarella and Buganza are joined by 13 District 9 players on the RRR Roadhouse D9Sports.com Honor Roll this week.

The RRR Roadhouse located in the Clarion Mall is in its third year of being the sponsor of the Player of the Week award. More information on the RRR Roadhouse, which also provides catering services for any occasion, can be found at www.rrrroadhouse.com or by calling them at 814-227-2000.
